Is this why Trump is winning thus far?

Trump doesn't have bases. He is not interested in pigeonholing. This is why the establishment can't counter him. The closest you can find is Reagan who had universal appeal because he spoke to the pocketbook that has no party.
They just posted gdp numbers and it's 10 years below 3%.
Everyone feels that. And because they do they are saying enough is enough.

Ok retard.

I get that on some levels, Hillary represents basically the same thing.

But is it asking too much to maintain the bar at least at the level of wanting someone who doesn't mock disabled people?

Electing Trump would just be an embarrassment for our country, in a way that electing Hillary or anyone else in the current field wouldn't be.

Yes, it's asking too much to elect someone with no regard for the truth. Someone who can ask what difference dead diplomats makes. And one with disregard for the law.

So Trump is brash I'll give you that but at least he understands that this country has real problems that the establishment ignores because they are too busy lining their friends (owners) pockets with silver.
Enough is enough.

He's not "brash." I have no problem with brash, or so-called 'political incorrectness.'

He's a child & a fraud. He's juvenile. He mocked 2 disabled people; he responded to concerns about his views on women by suggesting that the questioner was menstruating; he suggested that POW's were somehow less courageous for "getting caught"; just this morning, he refused to denounce David Duke or the KKK.

This is beyond "political correctness." This guy is a joke & a fraud. I get the frustration with the establishment, but people need to get real & think about the consequences of what they're doing.

Data from a number of sources (Public Policy Polling and YouGov, among others) show the extent to which Trump has tapped into a set of deeply rooted racial attitudes.

Here is the factual data about who his supporters are and what they say they believe.

They are 91 percent white
58 percent male
43 percent with a high school diploma or less
50 percent between 45 and 64 years old and only 2 percent under 30, with most making under $100,000 and describing themselves as "conservative" or "very conservative."

And then there are the troubling statistics: 82 percent support Trump's proposed ban on Muslims entering the country.

Sixty-six percent of Trump's supporters believe President Obama is a Muslim.

61 percent think he was not born in the U.S.

Of course these statistics aren't terribly surprising given the fact that Trump, the "birther," led a racially-motivated campaign questioning the citizenship of the first black president.

Maybe true to some extent. But Hillary's base is uneducated immigrants and under-educated urban minorities so there's that lol. Call it a draw.

Maybe it comforts you somehow to pigeon hole the Trump phenomena into that threadbare racialist narrative but what's driving the Trump train is dissatisfaction: people are dissatisfied with the way things are going; specifically, with regards to economic and immigration policy.

Here is Trump talking about coal and how the coal industry [and the people's lives affected by it] have suffered under Obama's *policies:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yk-C3tseJ8A

Notice he didn't say a single thing that was untrue. Maybe he's bullshitting and has no intention of reviving the coal industry, but at least he's talking about doing it. Is anyone else talking about it? No lol.

The establishment republicans piss and moan about Trump but maybe if they'd try and take his issues from him maybe they'd get some traction. But that would mean running afoul of the climate change sacrament. The fact they won't do it, is exactly the kind of thing that makes them establishment aka---democrat lite.

So there it is, you can keep telling yourself it's all racism, xenophobia or the usual liberal bromides but the fact is, it's the economy stupid. When government policy starts putting people out of work they're gonna be pissed.

Pissed enough to piss on the establishment in this instance.

What a load of crap.

And of course all of those "trump" the stuff that Hillary has done; like lying about being shot at, lying about Benghazi, lying about her E-Mail's, etc., etc.

I think he's winning so far because he's convinced more people to vote for him than the others have. But that's just one man's opinion.

Keep running with that lol.

Trump is the one running with it lol.

Public opinion survey results asking atypical but timely questions have shed some light on the Trump coalition.

The results suggest how Trump has built a significant part of his coalition of voters on people who are responsive to religious, social and racial intolerance.

One poll asked voters if they thought whites were a superior race. Among Trump’s supporters, only 69 percent disagreed.

Nearly 20 percent of Trump’s voters disagreed with Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, which freed slaves in the Southern states during the Civil War.

I'm more of a Trump explainer than an apologist lol. The bit with the disabled was inexcusable. I enjoy his political incorrectness and absolutely comfortable with that aspect of Trump, but he really needs to tone it down a notch. It's his past flings with liberalism I'm uncomfortable with. I don't trust Donald Trump but at least there's a chance he could turn out alright. There's zero chance with Hillary.

But I want to get to the David Duke bit because it goes toward explaining his popularity.

So, the media tried to pin the KKK tail on Trump. When will they get around to pinning the BLM on Hillary? See what I'm getting at?

Trump supporters are going to yawn at that and file it under media hypocrisy.

It's more than an opinion. You don't win elections, in this case primaries, by getting less votes than the others that are running against you.
