"Tolerance" @ CSULA where Ben Shapiro is to speak

This is a University that has let people like Cornell West and Angela Davis speak but having a conservative speak??? At first the University President said Shapiro couldn't come and then he finally relented. Now all hell has broken loose with protestors trying to block all entrances into the auditorium to not allow Shapiro or listeners in. Shapiro finally got in and started speaking so the protestors pulled the fire alarm and have blocked all exits.

And now they are protesting outside their liberal President's office demanding he resign/be fired for allowing Shapiro on campus. Nothing like seeing good liberal students on a college campus celebrating free speech and diversity of ideas.

I see. They should let Shapiro speak. Then after the speech all the liberals can get together and criticize/make fun of him.

Sometimes I think college kids do this just for kicks, not because they have strong opinions one way or the other.

That's possible even though watching that video there are some pretty fired up/pissed off people.
 
Hundreds of protesters filled the student union at Cal State LA as a small audience waited to hear Ben Shapiro talk about how diversity threatens free speech in a union theatre Thursday.
The audience was small because many protesters prevented people from entering the theatre to hear the conservative commentator and author.

I don't believe it. Where was campus security to hold back the protesters? The more likely reason is that the students didn't really give a crap.

The talk will feature conservative firebrand Ben Shapiro and is hosted by CSULA Young Americans for Freedom.

On the event’s public Facebook page, some students called the event “unsafe,” “hostile,” “a threat to campus safety” and damaging to mental health, and assistant professor of sociology Robert Weide chimed in, calling others who defended the conservative event on Facebook “white supremacists.”



They do it because they are indoctrinated to do these things......deep down, you know it and I know it.....
Cripes, its not that its unusual. The same thing goes on all over the country and has been for a long time....

How ironic they would call themselves " CSULA Young Americans for Freedom".....but they're too stupid to see the irony...

With all due respect the students do care. Maybe this is a Michelle Alexander again where you don't understand. I know you are liberal but you have to put yourself in a young minority's shoes to understand. That doesn't mean they are right because clearly here they aren't. But put your black shoes on as best you can.

Actually, I read /listen to oppositional voices more than those who agree with me because I like to have my beliefs and their support structures challenged.

An inquiring mind would have googled him, listened to some of his views and come back here with a bit more informed opinion.

I read Breitbart only to keep up on their latest lies, smears and distortions. That he's a Breitbart toady explains why the students blocked him, which is not to say that I agree with them. Better they should keep informed of Breitbart's latest spin and dishonesty. On this we agree.

What does this have to do with minorities and are they the only ones who protested? Does Shapiro speak negatively of minorities?
