It will just get to be harder & harder for SS to pay seniors any kind of living wage. The only solution when it's a gov't program is to keep finding ways to raise taxes. It's not sustainable.

You also have to factor in things like life spans getting longer, and the cost of living outpacing income.

There was a study done that says Boomers will see life spans into the 80's, but lifespan will decrease with each new generation.

I'd be curious what the basis for a study like that is.

We'll beat cancer. They're already very close to being able to replace sick or dying organs. Medical advancement is exponential in nature.

I've read more legit arguments that average lifespan could easily surpass 100 in the next generation than lifespan decreasing.

Not discounting the study that you're referring to, but it flies in the face of logic based on what I've read on the topic.

Pollution, food additives, processed foods, sugar.

The study said the Greatest Generation was the last generation to eat "real" food, and labored to match their calorie intake.

Ill see if I can find the study.

I'm a believer that EVERYONE, whether poor or rich must have some skin the game....especially in taxation....
Like Romney once said....what the hell would the 47% of non-taxpayers care about his ideas on taxes....and he was absolutely correct....

I gave seven things that could be done to some degree .... any of various combinations could make SS solvent for years to come....

It was NEVER meant to pay seniors a 'living' wage.....it was mean to supplement what you were supposed to be saving for your old age.....as a matter of fact, SS was forcing you
to save for your old age....so a little was better than nothing at all.....
