Why young Democrats love Sanders and really don’t like Clinton

DURHAM, N.H. To voters under 30, Bernie Sanders is one of them.

Forget Hillary Clinton. “She’s a corporate sellout,” said Emmy Ham, a senior international affairs and anthropology major at the University of New Hampshire.

And forget the notion that young women are eager to see Clinton president because of her gender. “There will be other opportunities for me to vote for a woman for president,” Ham said.

Sanders has surged among young people as few candidates have since the U.S. senator from Vermont was a college student in the turbulent 1960s. Sanders, 74, topped Clinton 84-14 among Democrats 29 and younger in Iowa’s Monday caucus. He’s got a 3-1 lead among those aged 18-29 in the latest NBCNews/WSJ-Marist New Hampshire poll.

Sanders has two important traits common to younger voters: He’s new and he won’t compromise his ideals.

The Corporate Whore!!!

young voters prefer sanders because they feel that they won't have to worry about not getting a job in their field of study after graduating if they can get free stuff from the government.

If you look at Bernie's stance on the issues, the kind of things he proposes that young people want involve them getting something that someone Bernie thinks has too much money is forced to fund for them.

For example, S 1373, a bill he introduced is the College for All Act. The bill proposes states providing funding for 1/3 of it with the federal government "sponsoring" the rest. Since both would involve higher taxes of some sort and people of the States are also people of the U.S., sounds to me as if the cost would involve higher taxes on those paying them twice. I already pay State taxes that offset the costs for tuition at State schools where I live. He wants more. What you don't see him including is an expectation of a kid's own parents to do for their kid what he wants to force those of us that aren't that kid's parents to do. If a kid's own parents won't invest in their child, why is it the responsibility of someone else that isn't the parent to to do it?

Wimmins are roughly 1/2 the voters. Don't think black and tans can carry the day.

You can't win the Democratic primary without winning the black and Hispanic vote. Sanders support has increased from almost none to a little but not enough to get him the nomination (as we stand today). Iowa and New Hampshire are lily white which is why Sanders is having some success so far. Most of the rest of the states, especially the South, aren't.

We'll see if that canard holds true. Who would have thought ole Bernie would be anything more than a trivia question ?

It's not a canard it's a fact. You have to win minority voters to win the Democratic primary. Now I definitely agree with you about Bernie and this being surprising. Doesn't speak well for the Democratic Party's bench that an old socialist has gotten this far. But Bernie has yet to win anything. Looks like he's going to win New Hampshire but he'll lose South Carolina and Nevada.

It has been fact in the past. The electorate has been acting rather oddly this go round. What has HRC ever done for black and tans ?

Why wouldn't a socialist get that far? The Democrats, for years, have groomed the younger crowd to believe that they are owed whatever it is they want despite not having to earn it like those that would be forced to fund it for them under Sander's proposals.

For whatever reason Bill Clinton still is looked upon favorably in the black community. Hillary benefits from that.

Nobody likes Hillary. Even the leftardiots here don't really like her. Like true opportunists as soon as they see the winds shifting for Bernie they will jump ship like they did in 2008

For the record I predicted this. I bet many democrats are sorry they stayed out of the democrat party primary
