The 7 most nauseating lies of the sixth GOP debate

Catalyst
What a surprise that in this debate Cruz and Christie come off as the biggest liars. Christie especially, for some reason I thought he was a tad more honest than the rest.

Here are seven of the most naked and shameless.

1. Trump says refugees and migrants are “strong, powerful men.”

This is categorically untrue. The majority of the more than 4.6 million Syrian refugees are women and children. Of the refugees who arrived by boat, over half are women or children. According to the U.N., only 22.7% of refugees of Middle Eastern origin are men older than 18. This is irrelevant to Donald Trump, who was more concerned with race- and Islam-baiting than making a coherent point on the dangers posed by Syrian immigrants.

2. Christie: Obama allowed Iran to kidnap American sailors, reflecting American weakness.

This is one of the more disingenuous attacks of the night, and it’s been debunked by numerous outlets over the past 48 hours. The American sailors in question had sailed into sovereign Iranian waters due to a navigation error, were disarmed—as is protocol for all countries—fed and housed, and then summarily released to U.S. custody after an investigation revealed it was indeed an honest mistake. No harm, no foul. But hacks like Christie and Cruz couldn’t resist using the incident as a way to demagogue Obama on Iran. It’s a topic that, not coincidentally, aligns with the interest of Republican super-donor Richard Adelson, who rewards anti-Iran candidates with millions in donations.

3. Rubio insists Hillary Clinton lied to families of the victims of the Benghazi attacks in 2012.

While some family members have indeed accused Clinton of lying to them about the Benghazi attacks, others have insisted Clinton was forthcoming. Their communication, according to the New York Times, remains largely private, so it’s impossible to tell one way or the other. In any event, it’s a highly contestable claim that is far from a settled matter. The families, like any large group composed of various parties, don’t have a set opinion on anything.

4. Cruz says he disclosed his bank loans for his 2012 Senate campaign.

On Wednesday the New York Times published a blockbuster claim that Ted Cruz had received a cushy loan from Goldman Sachs while his wife worked there, a claim Cruz denied Thursday night. According to the Times reporter who broke the story, it’s not that simple:
Senator Ted Cruz is conflating two types of financial reports. One is the annual personal disclosure in which members of Congress list their assets and income. On those reports, he listed the bank loans — without indicating that they were used for his campaign.
But it is the other type of report, which campaigns must file with the Federal Election Commission, that is at issue. On those reports, Mr. Cruz failed to disclose any bank loans he obtained to finance his Senate race.

5. Chris Christie said he didn’t support Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court .

This is demonstrably false. Christie supported Sotomayor’s nomination in 2009, according to reports.

6. Cruz said “not a lot of conservatives come out of Manhattan.”

Manhattan is home to over 83,000 Republicans, and when one adjusts for wealth the number is no doubt much higher. Cruz’s use of the term “New York values” while taking a shot at Trump was met with widespread criticism on Twitter as being an anti-Semitic dog whistle.

7. Christie doubles down on his claim that he did not support Planned Parenthood.

But he did. In a 1994 article, he claimed, “I support Planned Parenthood privately with my personal contribution and that should be the goal of any such agency, to find private donations. It’s also no secret that I am pro-choice….But you have to examine all the agencies needing county donations and prioritize them. I would consider all groups looking for funding, but there is a limit and we have to pick and choose.”
Christie has been insisting he pledged no such support, but the article is quite clear: either he was misquoted or he is now lying.

Trump is not talking about ALL 4.6 million refugees, he is referring to the 3/4 million that overran Europe...and thats makes him absolutely right.

2. Christie: Obama allowed Iran to kidnap American sailors, reflecting American weakness.

I still have reservations about the whole story...the fact of the pictures of the men kneeling, with hands on head and the women forced
to wear a headscarf and have their weapons confiscated was done for Iranian propaganda and totally unnecessary.

3. Rubio insists Hillary Clinton lied to families of the victims of the Benghazi attacks in 2012.

You're a Hillary apologist....no one is talking about ALL the familys she talked to, strawman crap as usual...those familys have absolutely no reason to lie or be called liars by the likes of Hillary Clinton a PROVEN LIAR.

4. Cruz says he disclosed his bank loans for his 2012 Senate campaign.

When the Fed. Election Commission gets after him, then we will see what the problem is, if any....he admitted a mistake and explained it on Wednesday.

5. Chris Christie said he didn’t support Obama’s nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court .

This is demonstrably false. Christie supported Sotomayor’s nomination in 2009, according to reports.

Seems to me Christie is full of shit...

Manhattan and NY in general has been Democratic for years....so I'd say he is relatively accurate no matter the hell 'twitter' has to say...

Again, Christie is FOS.....almost as bad as Hillary, either he is lying now or was lying then.....it was 20+ years ago and I'd like to see if there
were other articles with the same claim.

Christie had to wait until her left wing website, Salon told her what to say.....so I'll let you know when the fact checkers get done with the Dem debate....

I do remember her lying about or implying that Assad didn't use poison gas on his citizens, when in fact he did 12 different times....she was defending Obama's

'red line' nonsense that caused him some well deserved ridicule for him....but I don't have the transcript to post.....

Even Huffington found lies in the first debate, a liberal left wing rag
....maybe these will hold you over for awhile...

We found several falsehoods and misleading claims in the Democratic candidates’ first debate:

  • Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton revised her earlier statement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, claiming that she said she “hoped” it would be a “gold standard.” At the time, she said it was a gold standard.
  • Sen. Bernie Sanders claimed that his plan to lift the cap on income subject to Social Security taxes would extend the program’s finances and expand benefits. He neglected to mention that the new taxes would not be used to calculate benefits for those paying them, a break from historical practice.
  • Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley claimed that “70 percent of us are earning the same, or less than we were 12 years ago.” Not true. Average weekly earnings for rank-and-file workers are up 5.8 percent.
  • Former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee said that his state “had the biggest drop of the unemployment rate over my four budgets of all but one state.” Actually, four states had larger percentage point drops, and 10 states had larger percentage declines over his tenure.
  • Sanders claimed that African American youth unemployment was 51 percent, but that figure pertains to underemployment, which includes those working part-time and looking for full-time work.
  • Clinton claimed that “we lose 90 people a day from gun violence.” That’s true, but only a third of those deaths are from homicides.
  • Sanders wrongly said that the U.S. had “more wealth and income inequality than any other country.” The U.S. ranks 42nd in income inequality and 16th in terms of wealth held by the top 1 percent.
  • Clinton said that using a personal email account “was allowed by the State Department.” It was, but federal rules also required Clinton to turn over her emails before she left office. She did so nearly two years after she left.

BY Calvin Woodward, Associated Press January 17, 2016 at 10:46 PM EST

WASHINGTON — Bernie Sanders airbrushed the complexities of trying to overhaul health care all over again and Hillary Clinton offered a selective reading of her rival’s record on gun control in the latest Democratic presidential debate.
A look at some of their claims and how they compare with the facts:
CLINTON on Sanders’ proposal for a taxpayer-paid health care system: “I don’t want to see us start over again with a contentious debate.”
SANDERS: “We’re not going to tear up the Affordable Care Act,” but build on it.
THE FACTS: As Clinton suggests, Sanders’ plan would indeed mean a radical change in direction — one that makes the government the payer of health care for everyone, not just for the elderly or the poorest Americans or members of the military.
Whether that means building on President Barack Obama’s health care law or ripping it up may be a semantic argument. But at the core, Sanders would switch the country away from a private health insurance system. Employees, employers and others would pay higher taxes in return for health care with no premiums or deductibles, a striking departure from the subsidies and conditions that Obama’s law has overlaid on the existing system.
Clinton did not exaggerate in describing the huge political battle that it took just to achieve “Obamacare” and the inability to sell Congress on a taxpayer-paid system even when Democrats were in control. (She ran into her own buzz saw on the issue when she proposed an overhaul of health care as first lady under her husband’s administration.)
Clinton’s team and her supporters have persisted in a dubious, if not bogus, argument that Sanders would wreck Medicare and other health-care entitlements with his proposed overhaul. It would do so only in the course of establishing a health care system in which traditional Medicare, Medicaid and more would no longer be needed — because the government would be insuring everyone.
She made that argument herself in an earlier debate but did not repeat it Sunday night.
___
SANDERS: “I have a D-minus voting record from the NRA.” ”I have supported from Day 1 an instant background check,” as well as a ban on assault-type weapons.
CLINTON: “He voted against the Brady bill five times,” as well as for allowing guns in national parks and for shielding the gun industry from lawsuits.
THE FACTS: Both are singling out aspects of Sanders’ record that suit them, but that record is nuanced. Sanders indeed supported an instant background check, and at certain points a three-day waiting period. But he opposed longer waiting periods — of five or seven days — which gun control advocates see as a more effective way to flag people who should not be getting a gun.
Clinton is right that he opposed various versions of the Brady bill with longer waiting periods. But his poor marks from the NRA reflect a record that does lean toward stronger gun controls. Sanders now says he would support exposing gun makers to lawsuits.
___
SANDERS: “You have three out of the four largest banks today, bigger than they were when we bailed them out. … I think it’s time to put the government back on (the banks’) backs.”
CLINTON: “We have Dodd-Frank. It gives us the authority already to break up big banks that pose a risk to the financial sector.”
THE FACTS: It’s true, as Clinton said, that the 2010 financial overhaul law, known as Dodd-Frank, already gives the president the authority to force large banks to break up. Sanders has pledged to use that power if elected, while Clinton has not.
Yet such a move would require the support from numerous regulators, potentially including the chair of the Federal Reserve and head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Sanders would appoint some of those regulators, if elected, but the Senate would have to approve them, and it’s unlikely that anyone supporting breaking up the banks would win Senate approval.
Dodd-Frank has also given the government more tools to regulate banks and potentially wind them down if they fail, rather than bail them out. Yet despite Clinton’s faith in the law’s ability to curb Wall Street’s excesses, many of those provisions have not yet been tested and analysts disagree on how effective they will be.
Dodd-Frank also requires large banks to hold more capital as a cushion against loans that might go sour and subjects banks to “stress tests” to ensure they can survive economic downturns. Those greater capital requirements have caused many banks, including JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs and Citi, to shed assets in order to avoid growing larger and triggering further oversight.
___
SANDERS: “This is a responsibility for the U.S. Justice Department to get involved. Whenever anybody in this country is killed while in police custody, it should automatically trigger a U.S. attorney general’s investigation.”
THE FACTS: The department already investigates some such deaths, but focuses only on those in which a federal civil rights violation appears likely, such as if an officer knowingly used unreasonable and excessive force. A blanket trigger such as what Sanders proposes would strain resources, because hundreds of Americans are killed annually in confrontations with police, and it might be at odds with the department’s emphasis on enforcing federal rather than local laws.
Though police shootings invariably draw the attention of federal investigators who monitor events on the ground, only a small number prompt federal probes and even fewer result in criminal charges.
Federal investigations are time-consuming and to build a case, prosecutors must satisfy a challenging legal burden — establishing a willful and knowing civil rights violation. In perhaps the most notable case of the last two years, the Justice Department opened an investigation after the fatal August 2014 shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, but ultimately closed the probe without bringing any charges.

Refugees to America don't arrive by boat. Technically those are asylum seekers. That's a European problem. Refugees are vetted within their refugee camp and transported to the US afterwards. Asylum seekers arrive in a location and then request asylum due to fear of returning home.

KKKhristiefan was too busy masturbating every time she heard free healthcare or free college.

The families said she lied. They are in a position to know.

Every family did not say she lied. Also, the StopHillaryPac should be ashamed for politicizing those deaths for their own sleazy purpose.

"At a news conference denouncing the committee’s formation on Friday, however, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told reporters that family members of two of the four Americans who died the night of the attack had reached out to oppose the formation of the committee. “(They) have called us and said: Please don’t take us down this path again,” the former Speaker said."

More strawman bullshit ?
But the families that did were very very convincing....even wrote down her words at the time....have no reason to lie about it.....even her emails to various prove she lied from
the very beginning.....why defend the indefensible ? The truth will set you free.

Are you saying those families lied because of the StopHillaryPac ?.....
Did the other 2 families deny Hillary said that to them ?
get a grip women.....
