you were just lucky to find the first mainstream African-American who was articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.......if he was as dull, dirty and ugly as the others you never would have nominated him......

the republican candidates are actually pretty diverse. There's a woman, an african american, two hispanics, there was an indian-american, there's youth, there's old, there's long time politicians and outsiders. The african american was a front runner at one point and Fiorina was close as well to being the front runner at one point, and right now a hispanic is probably going to beat Trump in Iowa. The democrats have a woman and a man both older white people that have been in politics most of their lives and their front runner was pretty much hand picked by the party to win with little options for democrats to truly choose from.

So are the Democrats. You have a socialist who calls himself a socialist against a socialist who doesn't call herself a socialist. How much more diverse can you get than that?

Their platforms, ideas, and how well they organize their campaign determine their position, not their color or ethnicity. Ben Carson was doing very well but couldn't articulate his points as good as others like Ted Cruz or Rubio and Carson's campaign is disorganized. Carly Fiorina was doing well but was just too robotic in my opinion and didn't seem very approachable. Ted Cruz and Rubio are still doing well though and Cruz is currently polling better than Trump in Iowa. It's way too early to dismiss any of the top candidates since there hasn't been a primary yet. After Iowa and New Hampshire I'm sure some people will drop out and then you never know maybe with some gone the others can start going back up. At the moment though it's a Hispanic that is expected to beat Trump in Iowa if it remains the same.

There is one black republican candidate but I have no idea how many black republicans there are in the country. I'm not sure it's even possible to know.
