King of arms: Once again, America is the world’s top seller

Fifteen of the 9/11 attackers were Saudis. There's al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula and it includes Saudi Arabia. The US designated this group a terrorist organization. Do you support selling arms to countries who have organizations on the terrorism list? You think those arms we sell can't make their way to terrorists?

Oh yeah, now I remember....those are the guys that entered the country right the nose or Bill Clinton and Clark the Great Terrorist Hunter......but that was 15 years ago and they're dead.

So how come the idiot YOU VOTED for is selling all those arms to the Muslims.....? You sound worried....maybe you can write him another letter.

You think this only happened during the Obama administration? Educate yourself. Looks like the idiot you voted for was just as bad. Wonder how many Americans were killed by the guns he sold to Iraq?

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration is pushing through a broad array of foreign weapons deals as it seeks to rearm Iraq and Afghanistan, contain North Korea and Iran, and solidify ties with onetime Russian allies. From tanks, helicopters and fighter jets to missiles, remotely piloted aircraft and even warships, the Department of Defense has agreed so far this fiscal year to sell or transfer more than $32 billion in weapons and other military equipment to foreign governments, compared with $12 billion in 2005.

The trend, which started in 2006, is most pronounced in the Middle East, but it reaches into northern Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and even Canada, through dozens of deals that senior Bush administration officials say they are confident will both tighten military alliances and combat terrorism.

Why would any of them do it? Because money trumps all.

Obama dominated the market in 2014 with $36 billion in sales, more than half of the world total. U.S. sales were up by nearly $10 billion, or 35 percent, from the year before.

Then you've answered your own question.....assuming you think its all over money....

As long as China, North Korea, Russia, etc. are selling arms to the enemy's of our allies, we will have to arm our allies for their own protection....
The UK, France, Germany, etc are also in the arms business....your article even mention the world’s third-largest buyer was Brazil, at $6.5 billion, for Swedish aircraf..

So, whats your real point?

I couldn't guess how many or even if any Americans were killed by the guns Bush sold to Iraq.
The fact is Iraq got its weapons for all over the world, and yes, even
the US at times.....
A German company, exported 1,000 ignition systems for Styx and Scud missiles capable of carrying biological and nuclear warheads.
The Iraqi air force did not fly Falcons or Eagles. The majority of the Iraqi air force is made in Russia. The Russian MiG and Sukhoi design bureaus supplied Iraq with hundreds of advanced strike-fighters and the Mach 3 Foxbat interceptor.
France sent Hussein 200 AMX medium tanks, Mirage bombers and Gazelle helicopter gunships.
The Chinese supplied Saddam with the Chengdu F-7, a copy of the Russian MiG-21.
The primary Iraqi missile is the Russian-made Scud. Other missiles include the FROG-7 from Russia, the Exocet from France and the Silkworm from China.

"There are roughly 32,000 gun deaths per year in the United States. "
This is as far as anyone needs to read to know this country is fucked up.
Oh stop worrying about that. Future democrats are pouring across the border to replace the ones that mow each other down as we speak. And pretty soon, we're gonna have some new"obamalaw",(also known as "executive orders")making illegal stuff illegal-er! Then and ONLY then will we be safe!

I'm kinda looking forward to HRC stealing the election. Then I can start being called a sexist instead of a racist. It's been a long 8 years(Oh, and you forgot to call me a sociopath).

Just think, Saudi Arabia is third in line for buying US arms. That means we're arming Muslims in a dictatorship with a lousy human rights record. What do all the Muslim haters have to say about this?

"A study released last week by the Congressional Research Service showed that the United States remains the world’s leading arms merchant.

America dominated the market in 2014 with $36 billion in sales, more than half of the world total. U.S. sales were up by nearly $10 billion, or 35 percent, from the year before.

South Korea was America’s top customer, at $7 billion, followed by Qatar and Saudi Arabia. South Korea’s purchases indicated a desire to bulk up on armaments in the face of a continuing challenge from North Korea. South Korea was also the world’s top buyer, with $7.8 billion purchased overall. Iraq was second, at $7.3 billion, based on a need to stay armed in the face of American troop withdrawal, even though 3,500 U.S. forces remain. The world’s third-largest buyer was Brazil, at $6.5 billion, mostly for Swedish aircraft. The world’s No. 2 arms seller was Russia at $10 billion.

Although U.S. weapons sales help the nation’s balance of trade, it’s hard to say if Americans should be pleased. It is arguable that the supply of arms to various countries enables Washington to keep a handle on what those clients do with them. It is also likely that if these countries did not buy from the United States, they’d seek arms elsewhere.

Unfortunately, the arms supplied by the United States — along with the corresponding provision of technicians to maintain them — can draw America into affairs such as Saudi Arabia’s savage bombing of the Shiite Houthis in Yemen and can commit the United States to defend a vulnerable Persian Gulf monarchy such as Qatar.

America’s arms sales dominance probably does not contribute to bringing peace to troubled regions, but rather to raising tensions to more dangerous levels.

I agree. We shouldn't be selling arms at all much less to despotic governments. Our inability to not do the latter is further justification for the former
