why have courts, judges, and prosecutors?

seriously, why bother with the huge expense that these things cost us? why bother with prisons? why can't we follow the apathetic badge blowers philosophy and let the judge dredds on the street exact true justice?

for example, the media reported a story about two los angeles county sheriffs who shot and killed someone. the facts were barely covered until a video came to light showing one sheriff shoot his partner when he attempted to shoot the victim, who was already cuffed and on the ground. when said sheriff realized what he had done, he immediately blamed the subdued suspect, shot the suspect, and watched his injured partner shoot the suspect again. then, while his partner was sitting down on the curb after shooting the subdued suspect, did everything he could to kill subdued suspect except for shooting him again or providing any sort of first aid. the LACSD justified the shooting.

another example would be the paradise cop who shot and killed a suspected drunk driver whose rollover crash killed his wife. The cop claims it was an accident and he didn't even realize he shot the suspect until other officers on scene discovered the gunshot and were trying to figure out how it happened. After a lengthy and discombobulated explanation, the county DA says no charges will be filed against the killer cop because it was purely accidental.

these are just examples of the justice system exonerating street justice, then we have to deal with the apathetic and idiot cowards we call civilians who sit on juries.

we have a cop who disfigured an infant by throwing a flash bang grenade in its crib. Even though the warrant was obtained by lying to the judge about the long term relationship and trustworthiness of the confidential informant, the jury acquitted the officer of any misconduct.

there was an incident in colorado a few years ago where a cop wanted to arrest a suspected drunk driver while in his own home. when told to get a warrant, the homeowner tried to shut the door. the sheriff, refusing to follow the law and get the warrant, decided to act on his own and force his way in illegally. the sheriffs partner turned the corner of the patio to see his partner struggling at the door, so fearing for their lives, the partner shot blindly through the door killing the homeowner who was unarmed. The DA brought no charges against the cop who shot and killed the homeowner because he was 'defending himself and his partner', but did bring manslaughter charges against the cop who tried to enter the house without a warrant........acquitted by the jury.

these go on and on to the tune of over 1,000 people being killed by police yearly..so seriously. why bother with the court system?

Maybe you want to look into limiting police power versus granting them more.

wouldn't that be nice, but people don't want that. people want to have a group of supercitizens that can be as violent as they need to be so that they feel safe and protected. in order to do so, those apathetic morons willingly excuse police misconduct as 'part of the job'. those that DO advocate for less police power and more police accountability have to be labled sociopathic cop haters by some of the more vociferous badge blowers in the country.

I guess we will just have to live with it then.
