I actually look very forward to them doing it in dallas. maybe it will help them stay safe from the thugs ruling the streets right now.

there are a few things with this change and why it is happening.

1) guns in the open is a deterrence. the whole 'criminals will take out open carriers first' is a myth, especially if there is more than one person open carrying in an area.
2) allows one to be more comfortable while carrying. Texas gets HOT!!!!!!! in the summer. when temps reach 105 and you have to wear something bulky enough to keep a weapon concealed, it's extremely uncomfortable. open carry will now allow one to wear a simple light shirt.
3) 44 states currently have some kind of open carry law on the books. Texas has been way behind and now they get to catch up a little bit. florida will soon follow.
