This is the most fantastic thing I've heard in decades!!!!!!!! These accords will transform economies worldwide and redefine how we ALL view power production. We've known full well how these matters needed to be addressed for decades. At least now we have some concrete plans for how the entire world will approach these matters within the next few decades. But,,,,,,,,,,I expect the deniers to whine and continue to deny anyway. Do you really need just a little more light on the subjects? IT'S ON THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It will do nothing of the sort, rather it will cost a huge fortune for an extremely marginal benefit.

Do you actually think that as we change the way we produce and deliver power to industry and residential use the profits will be only marginally profitable? What do you base that nonsensical conclusion on? ALL credible reports forecast exactly the opposite. The present conditions are NOT sustainable. What alternatives do you suggest. Praise the lord.

I base it on the laws of thermodynamics.

It is a pipe dream to think that solar or wind can replace fossil fuels.

Of course the people that believe that also believed ethanol would be a good idea

Alternative energy is the future. Fossil fuels are NOT sustainable by ANY measure. Ethanol is NOT and has NEVER been touted as any advisable replacement as ANY power generator. But it does supplant shortages in the fossil fuel chain. Solar, wind and other alternatives CAN replace fossil fuels to a VERY large extent. What makes you so adamant that they can't? Future inventions in the alternative energy fields will eventually replace ALL fossil fuel dependency. Doubt that at your own risk. Right now many millionaires are being made and many thousands of blue collar individuals are making very good livings in the alternative energy fields. Again, doubt that at your own risk. Have a blessed day!!!!!!!!

People have been touting the "alternative energy" canard for years. Without price supports from governments they would fall flat on their face. I say this as someone who powers his mountain retreat with solar and hydro. But, bear in mind, I have propane backup because they aren't the most reliable.

You see while I know you dream of this world where your entire house is powered by solar, you are living a fantasy as you are relying on the weather to do it. Do you know how much land it would take to put enough solar panels to provide us with all of the electricity we need? Wind turbines? Have you thought that through?

Fossil fuels are very sustainable and can power us into the future. You have been fed a lie and choose to believe it. I can't help you if you refuse to help yourself.

Go with God!

at the very least we know its only 194 countries and one president.......how many other countries besides the US have no intention of doing what their president signed himself up for?........

The agreement is for signers to prepare a plan.
If they do not there is no consequence.
BO promised to give no one in particular money which congress doesn't need to do (remember Kyoto ?).
But if you are happy then I am glad. It's the holiday season everyone should be cheerfull.

Nuclear is resurfacing as its the only legit option.

nuclear isn't very cost effective either without subsidies. But it is an alternative that is more promising for providing electricity than wind and solar, that is for sure. It is just not as cost effective as oil and coal

Under current over regulation no. Return to sensable and it is. And open Yucca Mtn for storage.
Roll back Robert Byrd's regs that forced use of WVA dirty coal and use clean western coal and it's cheap and easier on the trees.
Need a mix and proper nuke is a viable component.

The problems of storage are already solved but improvements are being made as we speak. There are industries and households already in existence that rely ONLY on solar/wind power and their abilities to store them. What's the problem? god bless!!!!!!!!!

Again, I speak from experience because I use solar and hydro for electricity for my mountain retreat. Ask anyone who uses "alternative" electricity sources and they will tell you to have a back up. Why? Because these are not 100% reliable because you are dependent on something you can't control and that is the weather. Yes, storage has gotten better.

On a small scale, I am a huge fan of solar and hydro. But, I have propane back up.

You are a fool if you think you can power a city like New York completely with wind and solar. Do you realize how much land it would take?

I have started many threads on environmental matters on here, I suggest that if you want to lock horns with me then at least come equipped.

Having been in the power generation fields and environmentally concerned for most of my life I somehow do not feel challenged by you or anyone else that might want to bullshit like you have so far in this conversation, Borbo. Blessed be your thoughts.

Oh, yay. Global energy regulations.

What could possibly go wrong lol.
