Assuming the OP law was passed, the only thing Ahmed the terrorist would need to do is have a friend buy the weapon for him or get one off the *inevitable* black market it would create for assault weapons. If we've learned anything about such laws, going all the way back to the days of Prohibition, is they do not work. The net result would be law abiding John Doe doesn't get to buy the weapon he wants, while Ahmed gets his.
I say we pass on that insanity. Also, it's more of the typical 'hey, look what we did to stop terrorism' by the political class.
When at best they did nothing and at worst they exacerbated it.

the rights of every citizen Desh. Innocent until proven guilty. Yes, bad things will continue to happen... they always have and always will. No matter how many laws we create, that will always be the case. When you start proclaiming people guilty prior to providing proof/evidence, then we are on a very slippery slope.

Did you happen to notice that there were also dozens of pipe bombs confiscated in the attack in CA? Some on scene, others at the suspects home? Guns are not evil. Some people who use guns ARE. You can take away all of the guns and you will still have people who are willing to kill/maim others.
