A priest who pleaded guilty to mail fraud in connection with stealing $573,000 from St. Thomas More Parish in Troy was sentenced Tuesday to 27 months in prison.

The sentence for Rev. Ed Belczak, handed down by U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Tarnow, was below sentencing guidelines and federal prosecutors’ request.

Before the sentencing, Belczak, 70, said he accepted full responsibility for his actions at St. Thomas More Parish where he was pastor for nearly 30 years.

Belczak “took what he pleased” from the parish to buy a Florida condominium from his parish office manager and invest in stocks. According to federal prosecutors, he created false annual financial reports that were mailed to the Archdiocese of Detroit that concealed his theft.

A preacher has been arrested after being accused of beating, robbing and raping escorts in hotels across Washington DC.

Police believe that the 33-year-old used the website Backpage.com to find female escorts and arranged to meet up with them.

According to WJLA, the first two attacks happened at the Best Western Plus Hotel in Rockville and on both occasions he is accused of raping and stealing from two women he had met online.

He was arrested after police traced CCTV footage from the hotels as well as collecting DNA evidence from each of the rooms.

A pastor leading a “sexual double life” has been jailed for 10-and-a-half years for the “degrading” sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl, which included raping her while she was blindfolded, naked and drugged.

Married father-of-two, Dawid Volmer, better known as David Volmer, was one of eight men police charged over the alleged pedophile ring that abused the young girl.

Shocking details of Volmer’s role and the alleged involvement of the victim’s own father in exploiting her emerged when the disgraced evangelical Christian preacher was sentenced.

A man is accused of molesting one of his own children's classmates in a church parking lot after offering the middle school girl a ride, police said.

Rodman Chirinos, 46, is charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation of a child and lewd and lascivious exhibition.

The girl told police she knew Chirinos through her church, and that she had known him for five years.

According to police, Chirinos pulled the girl's pants down and touched her genitals. He then drove her back to a bus stop where the girl took a bus to school and reported the incident, police said.

Police tracked Chirinos down and he admitted picking the girl up at a bus stop and taking her to the church parking lot.

He further stated that he masturbated in the vehicle with the girl present.

William Casey was in Sullivan County Criminal Court trying to convince a judge to force the District Attorney General’s Office to recuse itself from his case.

A judge denied that request Friday.

A jury convicted Casey of rape and sexual misconduct involving a child over the period of 5 years during his time as priest.

Casey is serving a 35 to 40 year prison sentence.

A judge previously denied Casey’s request for a new trial and a separate request that Judge James Goodwin remove himself from the case.

A “post conviction” hearing was set for February 3rd when it’s expected Casey’s attorney will argue he had ineffective legal representation during the trial.

Police received a call on Fern Street in regards to a man knocking repeatedly on a door. When the homeowner came to the door, the man asked him if he was ready to meet Jesus.

The man left the area in what’s described as a white Jeep Cherokee. The resident described the man as being between 50 to 60 years old with white balding hair and wearing blue jeans and a tee shirt.

Then on November 14, police answered a similar call on Park Avenue. While the grandmother was in the bathroom, her five and seven-year-old grandchildren opened the door for a man who was knocking.

The man asked the kids where were their parents and said that Jesus was coming.

The man asked the kids if they wanted to go riding with him to meet Jesus.

Afterwards the man left.

The children described the man as an older white man with white hair and wearing an orange shirt with white stripes.

Finally on November 30, a man knocked on the door of the same Park Avenue home. The homeowner did not open the door, but talked to a man through the door. The man did not state his intentions and left.

Park Avenue and Fern Street are both near Church Hill Middle and Church Hill Intermediate School.

Anyone with information on this man is asked to call the CHPD Detective’s office at 423.357.3487 ext. 2.

Police would like to ‘sit down with him and have a chat with the man in question.’

A Garland pastor has been arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child, and police are asking any other potential victims to come forward.

Police said in a release Friday that Gaddis may have assaulted other children while working for the church, and they're asking anyone with information to call them.

Jane said she lost her virginity to her pastor on her father's grave when she was just 9 years old.

It was, she said, the culmination of two years of "grooming" at the hands of Mack Charles Andrews, pastor of the strictly conservative United Pentecostal Church in Thomasville.

Jane is a pseudonym to protect the identity of the victim.

"He told me if I didn't say anything, he would come back and put flowers on the grave," Jane said. "If I did, he said demons would come and get me from my bed."

Jane hopes 55-year-old Andrews, jailed for nearly two years on multiple sex offenses involving multiple minors, will spend the rest of his life in prison.

"My pastor is my rapist," she told AL.com.
