The .22 Long Rifle Ammunition Drought Continues...

The ammunition drought has been going on for quite some time now since the federal guberment started buying up all the ammo. several years ago.

I mean like how they bought about a quarter trillion rounds of .223 and 9mm for the postal service and such.

But, as of late, the shortage is letting up just a bit and the prices are still somewhat high.

.22 ammunition is still somewhat difficult to find.

And then this...

While cruising around shopping, I visited a store called "Prep and Save" ( http://www.prepandsave.com/upland/ ) in Upland, California yesterday morning.

The signs outside called themselves a "survival store".

I went in to peruse their merchandise. They had the usual stuff... water storage, water filters, MRE's & dehydrated foods, cooking gear, canned water, etc... And all of it was kind of pricy for the most part.

They also had a small assortment of popular firearm ammunition at the centralized check-out counter.

On the glass case over the ammo., there was a notice about .22 ammunition which (essentially) read...

"Due to the shortage of .22 ammunition, we can only offer 50 count "premium" Federal brand ammunition."

The price is...get this...$49.95. (Yes, forty nine ninety five!)

But there's more...

"In order to get that "special" price of $49.95, you had to buy $100.00 in non-ammunition merchandise to get the $49.95 price!"

I asked the clerk if this was for real and she said that it was. And the funny part, she said, was there are actually people who have paid that price!

I was in Dicks Sporting Goods in Palm Desert Thursday morning and they had a small amount of .22's. They didn't have 330 or 500-550 count bricks that I usually get for plinking ammo. They just had boxes of 50 for $6.99 which I passed on. (They had .45 auto for $20.00 which I did get as well as some 00 buck [12 gauge] and rifled slugs for pretty cheap.)

If you don't believe me, call the store at the link I provided above and ask them.

(Maybe I have fallen into Prep & Saves scam by advertising the store and talking about it, like I'm doing now. Who knows?)

BTW, I already have about 3,500-4,000 rounds of .22 ammunition so it's easy to balk at a $6.99 box of 50 as the bricks are coming back into circulation.

I'm looking to double my cache of .22's as well as most of the other ammo. I already have.

Mostly .45 auto, 7.62X39's, and 9mm.

(Although I am low on .303 British, the long range stuff. That's still hard to find. 300 or so rounds is not enough.)

I have thousands of rounds of 22 ammo. I have always kept a large supply as they are my favorite plinking bullets and I have maintained that through the drought. It's getting easier to find normal priced shells here now.

It's funny when libtards get into a big twist when they hear that some guy had "thousands of rounds of ammunition" and when the truth to the matter is the guy just had a few bricks of .22 long rifle in his possession.

That happened a few years ago in a town near me.

Some old man, a loner, passed away at his home and wasn't found for a couple of weeks.

When the authorities found him, they discovered "thousands of rounds" of assorted firearm ammunition in his garage, according to the local (liberal) newspaper.

Over 90% of it was just .22's. And most of the rest was 12 gauge birdshot.

Note...

I forgot to add how many rounds of .22 ammunition that you got for the "special" price of $49.95 in the OP.

It has been edited to say that it was/is a box of 50 (five-zero) rounds for that price.

That's a buck a round, plus tax.
