Dem Debate

Not able to watch but reading Twitter comments on the way to Warriors game. Said when asked about Paris attacks Bernie basically pivoted to climate change and said it was a bigger threat than terrorism then went to income inequality. Is that accurate?

If so it just reinforces why Bernie isn't prepared to be CIC.

"Let me have one area of disagreement with the secretary," asked Sanders. "I think she said something like the bulk of the responsibility [for ISIS] is not ours. Well, in fact, I would argue that the disastrous invasion of Iraq, something that I strongly opposed, has unraveled the region completely and led to the rise of al Qaeda and to ISIS."

"Now, in fact, what we have got to do, and I think there is widespread agreement here, is the United States cannot do it alone," he continued. "What we need to do is lead an international coalition which includes very significantly the Muslim nations in that region who are going to have to fight and defend their way of life."

It was an interesting proposition: to solve the original sin of the Iraq War, the United States was going to have to undertake a coalition-led intervention in the same region.
Dickerson was quick to reopen the old wound: "When you say the disastrous vote on Iraq, let's just be clear about what you're saying. You're saying Secretary Clinton, who was then Sen. Clinton, voted for the Iraq War. Are you making a direct link between her vote for that war and what's happening now for ISIS?"

Sanders replied: "I don't think any sensible person would disagree that the invasion of Iraq led to the massive level of instability we are seeing right now. I think that was one of the worst foreign policy blunders in the modern history of the United States."

"If you look at history, John," Sanders said, "you will find that regime change, whether it was in the early '50s in Iran, whether it was toppling Salvador Allende in Chile, whether it was overthrowing the government of Guatemala way back when, these invasions, these toppling of governments, regime changes have unintended consequences. I would say that on this issue, I'm a little bit more conservative than the secretary," Sanders said, "and I am not a great fan of regime change."

the right just had to remove the shit cork from the bottle of bees.

Chenney needed to buy a new heart

I laughed when I heard they planned the debate for a Saturday night, I guess they did not want the public to hear their lies.

Best quotes of the night:

O'Malley: "You'll never hear this from that immigrant-bashing carnival barker, Donald Trump."

Clinton: On her 1994 statement that momentum for a single-payer health care system would sweep the nation: "The revolution never came. I waited, and I've got the scars to show for it."

Sanders: "I'm not that much a socialist compared to Eisenhower," referring to a 90 percent top federal tax rate during President Dwight Eisenhower's administration.

If those were the best quotes I am glad I didn't watch it.

Let's see two of them talk about Trump something you whined about from the GOP debate when they mentioned Hitlery

One brings up Ike and misrepresents the tax code (please educate yourself on it)

I almost wish we would shut off oil for six months completely and see how these fucking dumb shit libtards get by. I of course would be fine so I fully advocate it

They were the best in my opinion. I wouldn't expect you to like them. You gotta a problem with the tax comment, take it up with Politifact.

Our ruling

Sanders said income tax rates under Eisenhower were as high as 90 percent. A look through the records shows that top earners in the eight years of Eisenhower’s presidency paid a top income tax rate of 91 percent. It was even a bit higher before he took office.

We rate Sanders’ statement True.

They didn't actually pay the 91% rate. It just so happens that the tax code was set to charge that rate in theory. In practice, no one was ever going to pay such an outrageous rate.

America produces more domestic oil now than it did under Bush.

Whose oil would you shut off, big mouth?

They didn't?

Only if you have a basic misunderstanding of deductions and how the rate actually works. That rate did not apply to every dollar they earned, only to the money earned above that specific level.

http://www.thesimpledollar.com/dont-fear-the-higher-tax-bracket-or-why-a-reader-needs-more-cowbell/

The reality is nobody paid 92% or 91% of all they earned in taxes. It would be idiocy to believe that they would or did pay that. Imagine if you made $200,001... If you paid 92% of all you earned simply because you were $1 over and into that braket you would, literally, put yourself into the poor house.

For example, let’s say you’re a single person. In 2006, the United States federal tax brackets were:
10%: from $0 to $7,550
15%: from $7,551 to $30,650
25%: from $30,651 to $74,200
28%: from $74,201 to $154,800
33%: from $154,801 to $336,550
35%: $336,551 and above

If you make $50,000 in taxable income, then $7,550 is taxed at 10%, $23,100 is taxed at 15%, and the rest, $19,350, is taxed at 25%. That means you pay a total of $9,057.50 in income tax. $40,942.50 is yours to keep.

You didn't have to pay 25% of all you earned because you happened to be in that bracket. The real taxation rate of somebody single who earned $50,000 in 2006 before deductions and credits would be 18%.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

yet you propose ideas that have never in mans entire history worked.

The bigger issue is Sanders thinking it would work today because he thinks it worked in the 1950's. Totally different economic world we live in today it's not even comparable.

He didn't say it would work today. He mentioned raising taxes but not to Ike-era levels.

O'Malley's remark was pretty funny....but then pinheads are notorious for name calling and personal slander....
didn't he also say that immigration across the southern boarder was 0 last year.....now that really is funny...too bad its just a obvious lie....

The number of families illegally crossing the southern U.S. border has more than doubled over the same period last fall.

Many more unaccompanied children are also crossing, with 4,476 apprehended in September — an 85% increase over that month in 2014, according to new Border Patrol data.

"If that trend even continues a little bit, if things start to go up in February as they usually do, we could be looking at things getting really high, and by spring, you're seeing an emergency.
