I like when the establishment takes a hit because a group realized they have power.
They guy walked away when confronted with questions about racism on campus and refused to discuss the issue with the concerned students. HE should have resigned. Its the students school and they should be able to influence the administration, and they did!
Yes, hopefully Auburn is Next!

A couple of people called students the N-word and someone wiped a swastika of shit on a dorm wall. Some dude went on a hunger strike until the University President resigned and the football team joined him claiming they wouldn't play this weekend.
I guess this is a "strike at the establishment" although I'm not exactly sure what it proved or accomplished. The claim was the President was insensitive in responding to the students concerns. Besides the fact we don't know if it was students who used the n-word is having a new President going to prevent some rednecks from saying it again?
Among the requests from the protestors was the President was suppose to admit his white privilege before resigning. Again, that's going to stop ignorant folks from using the n-word?
Kind of crazy what's happening here. Jarod celebrates but let's see him have the same response when it's him getting called to quit over something he didn't do.
'the group' = a portion of the football team. This doesn't happen without them.
He was confronted while in his car. He needs to resign for not getting out and talking to them?
So what happens next at Mizzou? More safe spaces? More diversity training? More police on the streets around campus so outsiders can't drive around with confederate flags?
Hopefully they'll waste a ton of money on this matter, so that resources are scarce for things that actually matter, and the Misery students will get the kind of education that they deserve.
It wasn't just a couple of students, there have been multiple incidences of women, men, blacks, gays, Muslims and others not feeling safe on campus due to other students or personnel. It has been an ongoing problem that students feel have not been addressed by the administration.
Maybe, the next administrator will take steps to have these issues acted upon and not just given lips service.
It isn't just the n word that the protesters want addressed, it is sexism, homophobia and racism. It is for the students on campus to feel safe.
Wolfe did not address these things, he wasn't doing his job, so his resignation is a good thing.
They need to do whatever is necessary to make the students feel safe on campus, and if that is hire more security guards and more personnel to address student complaints, then it is what needs to be done.

"safe" on today's college campus generally means not hearing anything you disagree with. Since confederate flags are still legal the University can't stop non students from driving around outside campus with them in their car. And there's little they can do to prevent people so inclined from making racial slurs. I'm not justifying racial slurs but no diversity training or 'safe space' can prevent someone intent on using that word.
Safe means not feeling threatened. I expect a university to do everything within its powers to make my student, who pays a lot of money to attend to feel safe. If it means expelling students and limiting outside persons on campus, then that is what is necessary.
do you feel safe in an environment where the students can force out the administration with hunger strikes?......Safe means not feeling threatened.
