Which State has the most pride?

This is the ONLY reason (other than work) that I still live in MI:

It depends on what you like to do and what your interests are. I happen to love international cuisine and salt water fishing. I have ready to access to both in NYC.

I love visiting other states, and may someday get a second residence somewhere else. But NY is always going to be my home.

I'm curious, Dune/ Rune, about your defense of Mass. Out of the 4 states that I lived in, it was by far the worst. The western part is OK but there are no jobs. The eastern part is way too fucking crowded, expensive, crime-infested and populated by the most racists pieces of shit on the planet. Have you ever lived anywhere else?

Other states that I've lived in.

MA. Left as soon as I could. Massholes. Retarded, inefficient governments. Polluted air and water. Police state. "Everything is illegal in Massachusetts."
CT, for a year. People are kooks. Traffic sucks. Beaches are dirt, not sand.
NY (upstate). Fantastic natural resources, rich farmland, great winter sports, clean water. Great folks. Stupidly high real estate taxes and shitty schools. A political disaster because they are held hostage by NYC and state bureaucrats.
NC I don't know how they grow anything here in this red dirt. Every county in the center of the state has a Muddy Creek, due to the soils tendency to erode. Great schools, great folks when they figure you out. Efficient governments.

Other states that I am very familiar with.

ME. Cold unless you live on the coast. Weird folks, so weird you should carry a gun with you.
NH Would be WV if not for its proximity to Massachusetts. Clean water, beautiful scenery and great skiing.
VT. Once filled with great folks, they have long died off and their land purchased by former NYers who wanted to by a working farm and turn it into a derelict artist colony.
RI Full of scumbags, nothing more.

VA Great state except for the proximity of DC is like making a wet fart in your shorts at the beginning of a long trip on a public bus.

I disagree.

Everyone I've ever known from NM hated it. I'm surprised how much people from IL hate the state. Fucking Oregon edged out Warshington...

I disagree. I ignored your invasive personal question but yes, I have and do live elsewhere. Still on an Atlantic island, still suburban-rural, still jutting off from a majestic metropolis, still in the liberal highly educated north east. I have also lived in the deep south but God willing I need not ever even visit there again. In fact most every where I ever went I found to be less than my native soil and so returned again and again. The Hudson River marks the Dune/Rune/Mason Dixon line, though I have visited DC many times but mostly by flying, therefore avoiding New Jersey transit. Since it is unlikely I will fly again, I am unlikely to be visited upon the south again.

Commonwealth of Mass, the first name of the state indicates the difference, we are a commonwealth;

[h=2]Etymology[/h] The English noun "commonwealth" in the sense meaning "public welfare; general good or advantage" dates from the 15th century.[SUP][1][/SUP] The original phrase "the common-wealth" or "the common weal" (echoed in the modern synonym "public weal") comes from the old meaning of "wealth," which is "well-being", and is itself a loose translation of the Latin res publica (republic). The term literally meant "common well-being." In the 17th century the definition of "commonwealth" expanded from its original sense of "public welfare" or "commonweal" to mean "a state in which the supreme power is vested in the people; a republic or democratic state."[SUP][2]

  • Massachusetts is a Commonwealth,[SUP][4][/SUP] declaring itself as such in its constitution, which states that "The body politic is formed by a voluntary association of individuals: it is a social compact, by which the whole people covenants with each citizen, and each citizen with the whole people, that all shall be governed by certain laws for the common good."[SUP][5][/SUP]

I could go on and on but don't feel compelled to type to satisfy you.

In a nutshell, you lived in shithole South once so you paint the entire South with a broad brush, you've never lived anywhere other than on Matha's Vineyard or some other rusty shithole, and you love socialism. Mass, Vermont, or some commune in CA are all perfect for you.

Ive lived in Florida, Alabama, Wyoming, Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

They all had great advantages and disadvantages. I would say Alabama and Virginia were low on the list while Wyoming and Florida are on the top.

But to try to compare the advantages of Wyoming to those of Washington, D.C. is like trying to find out if a fish prefers to sing opera or ride a bicycle.

I answered this part. I said I disagree. I ignored your invasive personal question.

So you enjoy living in a racist POS state. Oh that's right, blacks aren't allowed on your island, except as tourists.

No retard, wrong on oh so many counts. I have never lived on Martha's Vinyard though I have travelled there a great many times and it is quite beautiful. You speak as if you never lived there.

I have lived on Cape Cod, Nantucket and Long Island N.Y. as well as a few places in Florida (east and west cost), like a great many other massholes do. I found the west coast to be somewhat decent but the rest of the state sucked especially most of the people.

You are Right about Vermont though. If I could choose, that is where I would live. N.H. sucks with it's bullshit property tax, same as upstate New York. There is clearly something wrong with Maine as you pointed out. R.I. is a pit people wise, but the land is beautiful, and Connecticut you are just dead fucking wrong about. I was house shopping there until this viloation of the second amendment BS started. If will have to see how that shakes out, but I have more or less given up on Conn.

The bottom line though is that Mass is the center of the Universe. We lead in education, healthcare, technology and social progression, and have very liberal (in the classic sense) laws.
The Industrial Revolution stated here, The Mayflower Compact was signed here, the shot heard round the world was fired here, the home of the pilgrims is here, we are the first and only state with single payer healthcare, our sports teams are the best, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, Redsox, in short everywhere else sucks compared to here.
I can possess and transport up to ten oz. of weed legally (more in my home).
I have my 2nd amendment allowed muzzle loading rifle (a modern highly accurate .50 with a scope and copper clad sabots. It can fire smokeless powder and is as accurate as any modern rifle. I don't have or need a permit for it.

Counter that shit Southern Man (traitor Mass expatriate).

First, your state is full of Massholes, and they infect the entire state, along with all surrounding states. Everyone hates them for their arrogance, rudeness and bigotry.

Second, Mass is a police state. As the saying goes "everything is illegal in Massachusetts".

My sister's kids had to go out-of-state to buy a BB gun. I can buy shotguns and rifles at Walmart, and revolvers and pistols at my local gun shop.

Mass is puny at 7800 square miles and 14 counties. NC has 49,000 and 100 counties. We have 300 miles of coastline vs. your 190. You have some of the worst traffic in the nation and we have open roads. We have 3 million more people here than you do.

Nearly everyone who has moved here refuses to move out. The saying is "I wasn't born in NC, but I got here as soon as I could".

Our taxes are lower not because we have fewer services, but because our local governments consolidate with their neighbors. Most counties have one consolidated school system, so they are better able to serve slow kids and high achievers. Most towns use Sheriff's auxiliaries for police. Many city services are bid out on three year cycles to force the public sector to compete with private.

We had the first colony, and the first English baby, in the 1500's.

We have a much better climate: long summers, mild winters. There is generally a 30 degree temperature difference between the mountain counties and the coastal counties.

We have some of the most diverse flora and fauna on the planet, from bog turtles and Canadian spruce in the mountains to alligators and palm trees at the southern coast.

We have 12(?) of the highest peaks east of the Mississippi, dwarfing your neighbor's Mt. Washington.

We have some of the best universities in the nation, both public and private.

The Democrat Party has been virtually destroyed in the state government in the last two election cycles. The GOP now has huge majorities in both houses, and we have a Republican governor. As a result taxes, budgets, and regulations have been reduced. Manufacturers are flocking here.

You forgot your state motto. "Massachusetts: We're the best. Just ask us!"
