The 10 Most Obese States in America (And the Right-Wing Policies That Promote Poor...

Instead of histrionics and irrelevancies, how about drawing a connection stronger than the article's "ZOMG! The governor of Louisiana opposes Obamacare and people there are fat!"

As Obama is so fond of reminding us, Obamacare is now the law of the land. Are you now all tossing a new promise of it eradicating obesity on top of the already considerable heap of failed Obamacare promises? Yes? No? What's your point?

Is your faith in your fellow man so low that you think people need a physician to tell them they're 100 pounds overweight? Are Medicaid physicians incapable of delivering this message?

I guess you expect everyone to loose weight instantly; more of your idiotic ignorance. I really don't know how you have survived in New York. I thought people had to be quick to survive there. Sorry weight loss isn't instantaneous; it doesn't happen that way. Moreover, Louisiana and Mississippi are two of the poorest states in the nation. And that has nothing to do with who the damn governor of either is.

What in the world are you babbling about?

Who said anything about weight loss being instantaneous? WTF does that have to do with GOP policies causing obesity?

spoken like a true moron... tell us Dantes... what exactly is the link between Republican policy and obesity? You want to know what much of the south is at the high end of obesity... THEY FRY MOST OF THEIR FOOD.

I think weight gain is directly related to caloric intake. Poor people eat a lot more calories from starchy foods than from fresh fruits and vegetables or other sources. Because foods rich in starch are the cheapest to purchase. Poor people can't a food a diet rich in fried protein.

What do GOP policies have to do with austerity or "starving the beast" so that what little government aid there is left is finally eliminated?

Eliminating all aid is what the GOP program is! But you will continue along your self righteous path of complete denial and ignorance.

So go for it!

That's a load of crap. As a juicer I always go to supermarkets in poorer neighborhoods because the produce there is cheaper. Instead of the nice clean, perfectly shaped carrots and beets, I get the ugly looking split ones for about 1/4 the price of what they cost in my neighborhood.

The chicken is way cheaper too, although I don't juice that.

The genius level English scholar can't even tell the difference between loose and lose!! :palm:

That's all quite interesting, but did you miss the part where I specifically pointed out that I go to poorer neighborhoods to buy cheaper produce?

I appreciate that it doesn't fit the leftist template, but it's true nonetheless.

Did you read the part in the article about the poor quality of produce in poor neighborhoods?

By buying cheap, low quality produce you are robbing yourself of nutrients. It would be better to buy frozen fruits and veggies that retain more nutrients.

It means no such thing.

It just means it doesn't look like the vegetables you'd seen in Madison Avenue adverstisements.

In my area, I get three beautiful looking beets for $3.99, which is a little less than one pound. When I go to the "poor" areas I get beets for $1.09 a pound. They don't look nice. They're split and need a good washing, but they're still just beets. Or carrots for that matter.

Diet is the most important factor in weight gain or loss. Southern, and demonstrably poorer, diets exacerbate the problems with weight gain. Republicans demonstrably exacerbate poverty among the lower 99.9% of the population. What's to argue about?

Laughing at ignorance is always best for all involved!!!!!!!

How much does it cost to go for a run?

Exercise is also a major factor and although free it's hampered by thousands of issues. Where do you want to start?
