The tiny town of 6000 year round residents I grew up in has two Catholic churches both on large separate plots of multiple acres, plus a rectory and a school on separate plots. The Rectory and the School are each worth a million plus. The land of churches; several million each. This is one small town in New England. Every town and city in the western world has at least one church and rectory. Then there are the universities and giant cathedrals in the cities.
Take Boston College for example. 332 acres of prime Boston real estate, a 1.8+ BILLION dollar endowment (almost 1/3 of that of Harvard, the largest in the world), 120 buildings, a fine arts museum with a world renowned permanent collection, a colossal library with 15 million priceless books, 9 separate schools and colleges as well as Boston College High School, on an additional 40 acres of prime Boston land AND the Newton College of the Sacred Heart, an additional 40 acre campus in even more expensive (than Boston) Newton Mass, and is only one of two Universities owned by Rome in Massachusetts alone. Furthermore, it is but a small portion of Rome's real estate in the city of Boston. Graduates of Boston College fill an utterly disproportionate amount of political positions in Mass and serve (obviously) at the federal level as well, where again they are joined by a disproportionate amount of graduates of Catholic Universities.
The wealth, power, and reach of Rome is literally incalculable.
And they pay no taxes at all, one of the biggest scams ever pulled off, and the reason Priests are legally barred from influencing politics, yet they routinely do, as it is indeed a vastly corrupt organization.

There is such a thing in the law as accessories after the fact, though! I think that is where the rub is. In far too many of these instances the Catholic Church simply moved the priests around and in doing so, the Church efectively foisted them off on a whole new set of victims!
