"'The sad reality is that one political party and one viewpoint dominates the Assembly: the anti-Second Amendment voice of the downstate Democrat majority. Upstate New Yorkers who oppose the NY SAFE Act ought to feel disenfranchised. This law is deeply flawed, and was passed in the middle of the night without input from law-enforcement, mental health professionals, or the public at large.'"

It isn't obstructionism. It's the way a state works. Just because a few fringe loons want to kill the legislation, doesn't mean that the majority of the state deems this obstructionism.

Best the upstate gun nuts move to a different state, if they don't want to register their guns.

Perhaps Tennessee would suit them better?

so the republicans in congress are not obstructionists then?

The law goes way beyond simple gun registration. The more important issue is the fact that until recently, any nut can walk into Gander Mt., and leave with an assault weapon.

This law will do many things to assure the small percentage of problem gun owners, don't continue to have the privilege of ownership of certain types of gun.

It also makes it harder for gun owners to pass guns along to others, without a proper paper trail, and proper background check.

Most of the more important aspects have no affect on anyone who owned assault weapons before the legislation was passed.

When Congressional Rightie obstructionism kept MILLIONS from getting the healthcare they needed, it was no biggie to STY, but GOD forbid people try and legislate what he can do with his hip-mounted "courage".

If healthcare were the only issue the Right has attempted to deny, that would be bad enough. They haven't allowed a vote on anything, for any reason.

They won't even allow nominations to come to a vote.....eventually approving same nominations overwhelmingly.

It's been a carefully crafted plan, aimed at destroying the country...solely to make this POTUS look bad.

You are absolutely correct.

Denying millions healthcare is just one issue suffering thanks to the orchestrated obstructionist effort being put forth by Congressional REPUBLICANS.
