It's not irrelevant just because he can't be prosecuted at this point. I think that we are all less naive now than we were in 1992. In those intervening decades we learned that the Catholic Church as an institution has housed and protected pedophiles. I think we all know it's a lot more common. (oh and also, Penn State)

I think that there are many sexual predators, including pedophiles, within the Hollywood power structure who are protected. It's important that the cycle of silence be broken. I do support Dylan Farrow's calling out of celebrities by name. This is all very ugly and the actors and actresses who support these monsters are never called to account for it. Polanski being a great example.

BTW I found the statements from the judge in one of Allen's lost custody cases:

He "demonstrated an inability to understand the impact his words and deeds have upon the emotional well-being of his children" and "It is unclear whether Allen will ever develop the insight and judgement necessary for him to relate to Dylan appropriately".

The bolded is my belief as well. Polanski is another that should be castrated with his balls stuffed down his throat until he chokes to death on them.

They are liberals. And during the most recent Polanski escapades, I think I was on break from here...but I was on the huffpo and it's a good thing I didn't have any existing delusions that liberal males are not sexist. What a war that was. They all defended him, and in the most sexist ways possible. And I mean, in the Polanski case it's not even arguable. So the tact was that the girl was a whore who wanted it and then cried rape. Things have changed a great deal since the days when Polanski raped that girl. It no longer matters when the girl is 13, they can't get away with that anymore. The man is arrested, the authorities will no longer even listen to a "it was consensual" defense. There is no such thing as an adult man having consensual sex with a 13 you. So that is one thing that thankfully, has really changed for the better. But there are still those will defend it as consensual. Not our legal system though.

Your point that there are likely more pedophiles in the Hollywood power structure that are 'protected' is probably accurate. While Hollywood's structure doesn't exactly shock me, what does is that it seems so prevalent regardless of where that power structure is... DC, Wall St., Catholic Church etc...

Perhaps it is time to make extreme examples of these cowards. Enhance the penalty for violating a child. Exempt the punishment from the 'no cruel or unusual' portion of our laws.

I doubt it has anything to with his being liberal. It has to do with she grew up watching (and enjoying) his movies.

Sometimes when we look up to someone, they turn out to not be who we expected them to be. It is hard to grasp/accept/cope with.
 
Yeah, that's stupid. It has nothing to do with his politics. It's because I have always loved his films, they were always my favorites. I didn't feel that way about Polanski or Strauss-Kahn, or anyone actually. I didn't want to believe it because I really can't enjoy his films anymore, I am sure now I will view them very differently. But I faced facts. You have to.
