Ford says it’s the only “420″ mile sign to be replaced in the state that recently legalized recreational marijuana, as most highways aren’t long enough to need one.

The number “420″ has long been associated with marijuana, though its origins as a shorthand for pot are murky. Last April 20, a pro-marijuana rally in Denver attracted thousands to a downtown park where two attendees were wounded by gunfire.

It’s not the only sign in Colorado with a fractional mile marker that has raised the concern of the transportation department. Cameron Pass in Larimer County sports a “MILE 68.5″ sign after frequent thefts of the “MILE 69″ sign.

Back in the lates 70's a friend and I stole a street sign at the intersection for Bogart, Ave and Redbud Street. :)

Saw a documentary on NG about pot and the war on drugs and I tell you what! The people who wanted to double down on the war on drugs scared the hell out of me. I mean not because so much that they actually believe in the war on drugs but that they cam off as seriously sadistic people with authoritarian power issues. I mean you could just tell by the look in their eye and their body language that they got off on putting people behind bars.

Not really. I think it makes the sign even more rare. What state has .99 mile markers?

Yours does, Damo.

Yours does.
