That's simply not true. It's a long time from now till 2016 and a lot can happen. Remember Barry was a long shot when he announced his Presidential bid going up against the Hilliary juggernaut whom everyone was convinced would win the nomination...back in 2006.

Besides Christie you have:

Bobby Jindal. A historic Indian-American candidate and probably the only viable candidate out of the deep south.

John Kasich. Republican Governor of Ohio. Kasich probably has as much name recognition as Christie and probably more than Jindal. Kasich is a bit of a dark horse as he is running for re-election in 2014. If he wins, given his record as a two time Governor (Ohio was one of the first States to recover from the great recession). Kasich is also the former Congressional Budget director. A position co-chaired now by Paul Ryan...and unlike Paul Ryan, Kasich actually accomplished a balanced budget. Kasich sits in a very good spot if he wins re-election in Ohio. If he loses he's toast. Right now he's polling a double digit lead so he'll probably win.

Jeb Bush, while to call any Bush a "Southerner" is an anacronysim he certainly has the political savy, experience, and connections to a formidible candidate. Jebs biggest handicap is also his biggest asset. His name.

Scott Walker - A lot like John Kasich but without Kasich's legislative accomplishments. He's in a similiar boat. He needs to win re-election or he's toast. Walker lacks the national name recognition of the previous three I've mentioned too.

Marco Rubio - He's proven to be very dynamic but young and inexperienced...but then again...so was Barry...wouldn't count him out but a bit of a longshot.

I'd agree with you that Cruz, Perry and Paul don't stand a chance outside of the south and rural midwest. Which doens't have enough people to put either one of them over the hump.

Yes..that John Kasich. John was not the managing director of Lehman's but he was a member of the board of directors. Those attacks didn't gain any traction on him in Ohio why would they in a national election? I wouldn't count Kasich out unless he loses his re-election bid in Ohio. He's not done bad as a governorn. He got off to a rough start when he signed Senate Bill #5 and the public created a plebiscite and voted it out. He had quite a back lash from that but has steered a middle course ever since, including being one of the few Republican Governors to expand medicaide under the ACA and permitting state health exchanges in Ohio.

I just saw Christie say "So Sorry", but that will not do it for me. I will vote for The Hillary before I vote for Christie, and that shows what I think of Christie. There were ambulances trying to cross that GW Bridge, which were held up/stopped by the traffic congestion, and one women ultimately died because no one came for her in time, I hope her relatives sue the sheet out of Christie personally and the State of New Jersey.

It was partisan clown Ted Cruz who shut down the Government and held it hostage while demanding Congress aquiesse to his demands.

I am simply using his title. His job was Managing Director.

You sure about that? I don't think he ever served on the board of Lehman... that board was a pretty tight group and Kasich only worked there for 7-8 years. He was listed as a managing director of the Lehman Columbus, OH office.

Yes, but I have conflicting information since I looked into it. Other cites say he was simply a Managing Director in the Columbus office.

Why not? They voted him governor in what is the quintessential swing State.

It is a good point. What exactly was his involvement with Lehman Brothers but that was back around 2008. Now I'm sure that his political opponents will use it to hurt him but I don't think it will carry that much weight. I think his support of Ohio Senate Bill # 5 hurts him more as it may undermine his bid for re-election on Ohio and if he doesn't get re-elected in Ohio...he can forget about the Presidency.
