Easy answer. Lots of Sloth/Fraud happening. In LOTS of cases the Fraud is getting the benefits when the needy don't because the needy are honest.

Americans have no clue what they are spending on war as opposed to helping the truly needy.

Even more, they don't know about the PetrolDollar and the reason we are at war.

Take into consideration that the US currency is the global default currency, which means it is SUBSIDIZED socialist style by the rest of the world consumers. Also take into consideration that the US uses this subsidized currency to get stuff for next to nothing from less developed nations, and install puppet dictators to milk foreign resources dry? You will begin to understand why America is rich and most countries are poor.

We also have a huge population base, billions of tons of nearly every natural resource on the planet, and the greatest manufactoring base in the world (and are among the greatest scientific nations as well).

Really? So shouldn't we be spending less by now? Or has this become a permanent way of life for our "poor"?

You think yourself clever, I suggest reading, it is very educational.

Think of the place this nation would be in if we had spent the money from the wars of the last 50 years on our infrastructure and people.

One statistic, only 9% of our elderly live below the poverty line, compared to 40% before Medicare.

yes we SHOULD able to do that and the reason we cant is your fucking team keeps making more poor people with your idiot disatorous policies and stripping the programs when you get power.

You really hate the American people for some reason

People need jobs, not govt spending programs.

Really? So what programs have been cut or canceled? So adjusted for inflation, we're actually spending less?
Johnson's program entailed a lot more than just giving 'the blacks' free food/money.

I suggest you read up on Nixon's cuts to other aspects of the W.O.P, followed by Reagan and then Bush.

That's an easy question to answer; it was a moronic claim made by a dimwitted Democrat who got us involved in the Vietnam War.

The reality was that this was another Marxist Class envy redistribution scheme to attract gullible dimwits to the Democratic Party; and it worked.

After redistributing more than $20 trillion dollars with NO tangible results, the current Administration makes the same idiot claims. If you play an LBJ speech next to an Obama speech on the same topic, it would be hard to tell them apart.

It is a testimony of a party bereft of new ideas or solutions and one who resorts to the same tired stupid rhetoric of envy it always has. They have been calling Republicans the party of "no" for longer than I have been alive; and it sounds just as stupid now as it did then.

I guess it's better to be the party of "no" than the party of "dimwits."

The "poverty line" sits wherever the government wants it to sit. It has little correlation to actual poverty.

Think of the condition the world would be in all of our war expenditures went to new Nikes in the hood.

Oh sure, we're spending less than ever
