I support individuals freedom of speech over those of corporations. So you are against freedom of speech at that level. Exactly as I said.

A&E made a fiscal choice. They chose to support one community over another, and took what they believe is a moral stand, one for which they will likely suffer.
A&E hired people they knew to be Fundamentalist Christians, and a bit "backwoods", then acted all shocked when they actually were Fundamentalist Christian and acted like it. Had A&E included a "no religion" clause in the contract Phil would never have signed it, they therefore did not. They are going to lose any lawsuit, have to pay these people for not doing anything, and will lose the show to another network.
I do not believe that A&E will be saying this was their best collective decision even 2 years from now.
Any time Americans are punished for speaking an opinion, it should be a concern. The problem is the deranged cockroaches who pressured A&E and the like minded deranged cockroaches at A&E.
I support individuals freedom of speech over those of corporations.
Personally, I don't believe A&E would kowtow to 'the queers', a label you seem to enjoy. There must be 'something' other than fear that would lead them to suspended the patriarch of their number one show.
So I assume you give equal credence to Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan since you are not a deranged cockroach.
This incident is an example of crony capitalism.
I support individuals freedom of speech over those of corporations.
You have to be the only dunce on the planet that thinks this is not about gay rights Fascists. The "something else" that is compelling them to suspend the patriarch of their number one show putting almost a billion in revenue at risk is called PCI; Politically Correct Ignorance.
What A&E should have done is stood beside their redneck hero and said that they believe in the Constitution and Phil's right to speak his mind no matter whom it might offend and we will continue printing money thanks to him regardless of the dimwitted threats from GLAAD and arrogant hypocrites from the left who think that free speech is limited to their Fascist views and agenda.
Hell, I might start watching that show if they showed that level of courage and common sense. As it stands, I hope they fire Phil and that the family walks off the network only to get a more lucrative deal from someone with more brains and intelligence than the executive team at A&E.
Because Jarod is an idiot with limited intelligence, he doesn’t comprehend the VAST difference between A&E feeling pressure to fire someone, and the FANS, who were the ones disappointed with the Dixie Chicks display of Liberal political ignorance, who decided not to BUY their products.
From a man with more integrity in his small toe than all the hate filled intollerant leftists on the planet:
President Bush responded to the controversy in an interview with Tom Brokaw on April 24:
The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind. They can say what they want to say ... they shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out ... Freedom is a two-way street ... I don't really care what the Dixie Chicks said. I want to do what I think is right for the American people, and if some singers or Hollywood stars feel like speaking out, that's fine. That's the great thing about America. It stands in stark contrast to Iraq .
Who is trying to stop Jeremiah Wright from spewing his ignorant anti-American race hustling drivel? Who is trying to stop Farrakhan?
God you are one incredibly dumb dimwit.
So I assume you give equal credence to Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan since you are not a deranged cockroach.
YOU, you support Clear Channel's actions against the DC's for having spoken their minds. Yet, you don't support A&E's actions against the Duck guy for having spoken his mind.
Simply because you see the duck guy as on your team.
You would have us believe that the 14 million plus people who watch the show weekly are gay?
Does the market dictate what sells?
Have you looked in the mirror today?
First off it isn't 14 million, it is 11.8 million. Secondly, I would be surprised if ONE gay person watched this show. So it begs the question; do you ever have a coherent point to make, or are you just inclined to remove all doubt you're a clueless idiot?
In most cases it does; but in this case, apparently the executives are more concerned with preserving their PC image than making a vast sum of money.
So tell me; what market forces compelled these executives to destroy the most profitable reality show in the history of network TV?
When you support free speech for one, and not for another... based on your personal ideology you are being hypocritical.
Example... I don't like what the duck guy said... I also don't like that A&E suspended him for saying it. Do you see, I support someone's right to say things I disagree with because that is the right thing to do. Because I understand the basic principal of AMERICAN FREEDOM. I wish more people could see that and do it.
Yes I have; and what I saw was a very wise old person who is spending too much time trying to educate ignorant dullards like you who apparently want to wallow in their blissful smug ignorance no matter what the reality, truth or facts say.
I disagree, I simply think when groups of people act in concert, as they do in a for profit corporation, they do not come from the same place as a person speaking for himself.People in the US have a right to assemble, a corporation is just such an assembly. The attempt to silence an assembly is both unconstitutional and inane. All of those people have a right to both assemble and a right to free speech, it's even the same amendment. The corporation isn't any different than the individuals that make up its assembly, because it IS those people.
Saying that these people in particular just don't have the same rights as those people because they have assembled into a group is absolutely inane totalitarianism.
You've assembled, therefore you must maintain silence. There is no statement more obviously unconstitutional that I have seen here on this site.
