The 15th Amendment technically gave them that right... but the 24th Amendment/ Civil Rights act of 1964 eliminated a lot of the poll tax crap that was enacted to prevent poor voters (most blacks at the time) from voting.

When I am asked if I support some action by a person or company to me it goes to the right of the person or company to do what they did. So I answered accordingly. I still say that you are trying to turn this thread into something other than what it is.

This is an important thing I want you to understand. I do not like what the Duck Dynasty guy said, I disagree with him, I think what he said is harmful to people. I DISAGREE with the COMMENTS he made!

YET, because I believe in FREEDOM and the FREE EXPRESSION OF IDEAS, I do not agree with what A&E did. I do not think Comcast should have banned the DIXIE CHICKS for criticizing the president, and I don't think A&E should have banned this guy for calling homosexuality a sin.


One of my wishes is for AMERICANS to rise above what they believe about the issues and stand on some bigger principals about being accepting of the right to disagree!

So Leaningright and Supercandy both admit that because they did not agree with the Dixie Chicks they took the opposite side of this issue back when the DC's were banned for speaking out against GWB.

I'm calling that being a hypocrite based on political ideology, they will argue differently based on what issue the banned person is speaking about. Am I wrong? They are cool with banning someone if they disagree with that person, not cool with banning if they agree with the person.

They insisted when their maid died she be buried against the wall of the black cemetery so she could be as close to the white section as possible. They paid her well, they fed her and her family when they were hungry. They would not have stood by and seen them lynched. They would not have seen them mistreated.

They also though black people incapable of having an intellect much greater than that of a child. They compared them to monkeys. They felt they needed to be cared for and could not be expected to care for themselves. They wanted them to eat in separate dining rooms, they wanted them to go to separate schools and live in different areas of town. They felt that due to the vastly different mental capabilities of the races it was only appropriate to keep them separate.
