Obama Took A Selfie At Mandela's Tribute

How did this help to celebrate Mandela's life or in any way deepen the respect one would have of the nation he is representing?
. Enjoying oneself is how one celebrates the deceased' life at a traditional African memorial. Being friendly with world leaders and comfortable in his own skin deepens the respect people have for him and us, did you hear the roar of the crowd when Obama took his seat? He engenders more respect for the USA while abroad than any other modern American president, only Bill Clinton came close.

Again, what part of that selfie helped to remember Mandela?

As for bowing, yeah, he bowed more than other Presidents. In our history our Presidents have been particularly reticent to bow. We are not subjects, and the foremost of us should not act like one.
. You fell for the media hype on the bowing, thought you were smarter than that. Bowing, particularly in Aisa is not about being a subject but about honor and respect.

I thought you were more honest than this apologist nonsense.

. I'm on my cell phone now or I'd show you photos of Truman, Nixon Bush, Sr, Reagan, and Bush, Jr bowing to the likes of Prince Fad, Chairman Mao, Queen Elizabeth and more. You can find the photos if you care to know the truth.

And I'd show you what I said back then... at least with GWB... but if you were honest you'd remember. Although bending over to get a necklace put around your neck isn't bowing.

Obama's breach of protocol in Asia wasn't bowing, it was both shaking hands and bowing at the same time. Select one or the other, do not do both. If he'd pay more attention to a team of people whose job it is to know these things, he'd be better off, and so would we be better served.

Do you think it would have upset Mandela, or would he up have poised with them if he were still alive?

I have dared to laugh and taken pictures at memorial services, especially when it was a celebration of a long life, right during the service, it was when they were giving testimonials about the person and one speaker was replacing another.

Has anyone stated what was occurring during the moment this happened.

Do you think the Danish are as disturb by this as yourself?

. You said I was wrong when I said other presidents bowed. Now you say you did not like it when GWB bowed, and ignore the other bowing by other presidents.

I don't think Mandela would go to a state funeral and take selfies with Obama until after the ceremonies. I know the Brits are disturbed. Not too many Americans are "disturbed" by this, while I see a lack of gravitas in this President I don't think it is even a "scandal" as the left are trying to say people call it.

Bowing is a way of showing mutual respect in many cultures, it isn't about being a subject. It is a greeting, instead of a handshake.

I bow to my Japanese friends when I encounter them. I think it is a lovely custom.

I disagree, if he were sitting next to the Danish PM and she wanted to capture the moment with him, I doubt very much that he would have refused.

The Brits are constantly disturbed.

I am sure Obama was quite respectful at the proper times.

The people of Japan or the UK are not subjects either, subjectship was abolished decades ago and replaced by citizenship. Libertarians are stuck in the 18th century, futilely debating opponents that no longer exist.

I said nothing of the sort, you must remember what I said back then. And I said he bowed "more", not that others never bowed. If you spent a bit actually understanding what people said we might be able to hold a conversation that doesn't begin with me dragging you out of the ad hom mud puddle into a realm in which you are obviously uncomfortable, so much so you have to make up what people say so you can argue a straw man.

Basically, in this thread you started with an ad hom, and now have moved on to the straw man.

Obama took a selfie with the Danish prime minister and David Cameron.

:rofl2:
Does his wife look happy being left out???

I have never seen people at a funeral trying to stay positive before this. Who does he think he is? Someone that doesn't know Mandela?

I wrote this and realized what forum I was on and that people aren't too smart here. YES people try to stay positive at funerals and "celebrate life" And small brains seeing a photo op chance to burn Obama shows their class.

You can either be brainy, be mad or be downright desperate. I choose brainy. This post is desperate.

It was not very respectful which is why Michelle had a face like thunder.

To assume what was in Michelle's mind is brainless and silly. It shows your desperation. The Conservatives are desperate to try to get Obama in the next three years, they fear if things go as they are and the Obamacare website is truly fixed that the people will see them for what they are, screaming crybabies.

President Obama is slated to go down as one of the greats.

Oh, Im sorry you said he bowed MORE than other presidents. Do you have anything to back up your factual allegation, or is it simply based on a feeling you got from watching Fox News and reading The Blaze?

Bush Bow II.jpg

Oh, the shame he brought onto the USA, no gravitas!
