A Nassau County police officer has been sentenced to community service for pointing his gun at a bartender, but he is staying on the force.

Richard Hefferon was sentenced to 150 hours of community service and issued a $500 fine after he pleaded guilty to menacing. Hefferon was off duty in 2011 when he pointed his gun at the bartender.

A judge also issued an order of protection for the bartender and says Hefferon cannot carry a weapon while the order of protection is in place. If he needs a weapon for his job as an officer, he will be required to sign it in and out.

a civilian would be in jail for a felony and stripped of his gun rights. but certainly not a cop.

That's not always the case. Probably the best thing this guy ever did was to 'fess up to his crimes.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A former Pittsburgh Police officer has pleaded guilty to charges that he tried to extort sexual favors from women in return for legal help.
Adam Skweres, a nine-year veteran, pleaded guilty Monday morning to several counts involving five women. He was immediately handcuffed and taken to prison where he will serve 3 ½- to 8 years. After that, he will be on probation for 10 years and will have to register as a sex offender.

Skweres did not comment or ask the judge for leniency, saying only, “Because I am, your honor,” when Allegheny County Judge David Cashman asked why he was pleading guilty.

this explains why he got off so light........

“That night, he made a mistake. He made a profoundly bad mistake … ,” defense attorney Robert McDonald told CBS 2′s Jennifer McLogan. “The court and the DA’s office have both realized that the measure of this man is more than just that one mistake.”

2014 will mark Hefferon’s 20th year as a cop, making him eligible to retire with half pay and full benefits.

“And now he’s going to get out with a pension, and we’re all going to pay for this

when you can acknowledge that there is a difference between carrying a gun in a holster on your hip IN THE OPEN and actually pointing it in someones face, your bullshit is worth responding to.

And the reason you want so badly to carry your gun on in a holster on your hip IN THE OPEN?

Because you want everyone to understand the threat of violence you represent when you walk into a room.

THAT my friend is the very DEFINITION of bullying.

you live in TX, so you should understand that it's fucking HOT!!!!!! I do not want to have to wear something long enough and heavy enough to conceal a handgun. so no, your bullshit supposition of carrying a gun is bullying is nothing more than your cowardice of people carrying guns other than cops.
