“The Fast and the Furious” movie star Paul Walker, 40, has died in a car accident Saturday afternoon in southern California, reports TMZ.


The accident occurred in Santa Clarita — outside of Los Angeles — when Walker’s Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded.


Walker’s Twitter and Facebook account has confirmed the news.

Update:
He was a passenger in a friends car, when the accident happened.
 
I heard it was his car and I think he was giving people rides in his new Porsche. Sucks. He may not have been the best actor but he was entertaining. Don't know how many times I've watched the first F&F.

7:15 PM PT -- Paul's rep just released a statement about his death, and says "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives." Witnesses on the scene originally said they thought the car was Paul's ... but have since confirmed it was not.

I used to own an older 911 S Porsche, we race them, otherwise why would anyone buy one. The problem with racing on the street is that there is no one to clean up a grease spill and these cars can lose it and spin out. They normally do not flip over easy, but Paul's hit a light standard and then a tree afterwards. James Dean was killed riding in a Porsche Speedster Spyder on his way to Paso Robles, and he was racing it until he crashed into some guy who pulled out in front of him.
 
Crap on a cracker, look at that car!

We should be thankful this idiocy was confined to the car's occupants and not any innocent 3rd parties.
