I didn't say there was.
I was asking why the 14th Amendment didn't prevent it, if, as is argued, it's point was to provide equal protection under the law for all Americans.

well... since neither one of us is a supreme court justice, perhaps we should defer to their wisdom on this subject, eh?
I mean, I am not about to go telling my cardiologist how to put a stent in.
and I would imagine that, when it came to, say, anchoring large vessels in small anchorages with lots of wind across the head bearing, most supreme court justices would defer to MY better judgment as to how to pull that maneuver off.

If you have an actual argument to make besides "this is stupid", I'd love to hear them. So far, the only thing you've said that is "only Congress can create law", but then you turned around and made my argument for me by admitting that lobbyists manipulate Congress.

This is retarded. Crony capitalism is the most basic human impulse in the world -- you give your money to people you know or like. If you have the option of paying a friend or a stranger to do a job for you, wouldn't you rather give your money to your friend? If you have the option of buying your vegetables from your neighbor or a faceless corporation, all other things being equal, wouldn't you rather give the money to someone who you might need to turn to for help later on?
