Why does an ID make it harder to vote?

Do you not think it important to make sure someone exercising their most precious right is who they say they are?

What is your problem? I have ID and I show it lots of places in order to do lots of things. No big deal
 
I love these lines from the article:

U.S. Senator Kay Hagan of North Carolina, a Democrat up for reelection in 2014, agrees that the law is an overreach. "People are dumbfounded," Hagan says. "This has absolutely nothing to do with voter fraud."

Out of seven million votes cast in North Carolina's 2012 general and primary elections only 121 were identified as questionable, according to the state board of elections. The kind of voter fraud Republicans cite, including ineligible voters and non-citizens trying to vote, using a false identity, or attempting to vote multiple times happens so infrequently that it's statistically insignificant.

This is all about voter suppression, people, not about fraud.

The changes in N. Carolina (again from the article):
The North Carolina law is a grab bag of bad ideas. It not only institutes a government-issued photo-ID requirement for voting, similar to the Texas law, but also eliminates same-day voter registration and requires voters to register or update their address at least 25 days ahead of the election; reduces the early voting period by a week; abolishes a program to register high-school students in advance of their 18th birthdays; empowers partisan poll watchers with greater authority to challenge voters; and eliminates out-of-precinct voting. The law also weakens candidate disclosure and fundraising rules, thereby allowing unlimited corporate donations and abolishing the requirement that candidates endorse their own television ads.

Voter id is the ONLY thing that might be about preventing fraud. But again, that kind of fraud is pretty rare.

So this is all about repubs disenfranchising people who might vote democratic.
 
In some states the republican election officials are NOT going along with the plan.


They are standing up against the republican party and NOT wanting to cheat.

those people should inherit the republican party.

It may be soooooo damaged they wont want the name
 
claiming people are illegal voters when they are not is how they do it.

the person has to challenge the exclusion and then they never get their vote in the last election back.

The republicans just challenge them and don't care if they win it back AFTER the election.

they can just challenge more people next time.

BTW don't you think it is a bit condescending and paternalistic to assume that blacks wouldn't go to the trouble of getting a photo ID to vote?

But if they didn't have ID in states that have voter ID how did this happen?

You claim voter ID suppresses the vote. Obviously the opposite happened. You seem to be contradicting your own argument.

In fact if you think that voter ID laws fire up your base to go vote and that in fact happened, then maybe you should be rooting for voter ID laws.

Seems like this is just a case of your master Obama/Holder telling you to oppose it and you blindly follow without any thought involved.
