Bill Nye, 'Science Guy,' condemns creationist influence in classrooms

but only Baxter and a handful of extreme fundamentalist Christians actually believe the earth is 6000 years old......why even discuss it?......

I don't believe it's 6000 years old. 40% of those polled said it is 6000-10000 years old thanks to creationsit like Ham and you. That's why it needs to be discussed.

no....nobody has ever come out and said, "let's teach kids that the earth is 6000 years old".....however, some brainless liberal fucks keep posting articles as if they had......is that because brainless liberal fucks are extremely dishonest or is it simply their ignorance.......you're a brainless liberal fuck......perhaps you can enlighten us on that......

and it isn't?.....

Pummeling a strawman makes for good copy. Simple as that.

Every hack needs their device

no.....46% of those polled said that the statement "God created human beings in their present form sometime in the last 10,000 years" came the closest to what they believed as opposed to two statements that said human beings evolved from less advanced forms of life.....even though I don't believe it happened in the last 10,000 years I agree that that statement is far closer to what I believe than any statement which claims they came from less advanced life forms......

further, less than 15% believed that humans evolved without the hand of God being involved.....why is it that THAT belief is the one taught in schools?........it certainly isn't because it's science......

Bullshit. Ham's Answers in Genesis IS TEACHING KIDS THAT. Schools using Accelrated Christian Education textbooks are teaching similar nonsense and until recently that the Loch Ness monster is a real dinosaur. Many Republican politicians believe that we should "teach the controversy" or whatever new propaganda slogan they are using.

46 percent of Americans believe God created humans in their present form about 10,000 years ago. ?

I just can't believe this figure.....no way are 46% of the US people that ignorant....its bad enough that about that many are Democrats.....

I know about 22% of the population is Catholic, and no where do they teach that kind of nonsense...
Evangelicals account for about 26% and that means even if 100% of them were polled, and agreed, there must be other believers.

A 2011 Gallup survey reported that 30% of U.S. adults interpret the Bible literally and I even cringe at this figure....

So, I question that figure of 46%.....and I'm curious as to the exact wording of the question asked to might cause this figure.

I did misstatte that. They believe humans are only 10000 years old rather than the earth. It's still due to lying morons like you and Ham and why this issue needs to be discussed.

They don't teach in school that god(s) had no part in evolution. Beliefs concerning that have nothing to do with science.

Members of the Catholic church often believe things their priests don't. I linked the poll in my previous post.

Republicans would hate me for doing that. Since there is no scientific controversy about the factual basis of biological evolution I would use "teach the controversy" to teach student how to identify a real scientific theory, such as biological evolution, and a psuedoscience like Intelligent Design.

perhaps lying to yourself about that makes you feel better.......not sure why.....but then, not being as insecure as you, I may simply be unable to relate......

Being a member of any organization, or a Catholic Church hardly makes you a Catholic or whatever the org. is...........its what you believe and what the Church teaches......

Its like registering Republican and supporting the liberals 100 %.....

???

The point is that because the Pope or other bishops acknowledge that the young earth creationist stuff about man/earth being <10000 years old is nonsense, does not mean their followers do.
