they are often NOT elites. they are the unwashed masses. they are the proles.
The reason they believe those things is because they don't believe in property rights or individual rights. They are the kid in elementary school that forgot their snack and told the teacher in order to make all the other kids give them a share of what they brought themselves.
if they are having strife, then you must have strife, if they suffer, all must suffer. Their altruism is a cover for their laziness and selfishness.
Proles are the absolute DOOM to freedom and republicanism.
Well....too bad for you that due to getting gradually fucked for the past thirty years or so, the "proles" are exercising their rights as Americans to serve their own best interests.
Exactly. They are nothing but SELF SERVING. There was once an experiment conducted on rats where they were given a choice between having the pleasure center of their brain stimulated or being fed. 100% of the time the rats starved to death. THAT is the behavior of a prole. They don't even have the capacity to imagine the long term, let alone actually work towards it.
They are the 'progressive' elites. They believe that businesses exist to serve the employees and customers. Funny thing though, time and again their ideas are run through think tanks and government accounting and 'if implemented' would cost 'some,' 'lots' of loss of jobs. So 'some' would get more, others nothing.
Same grand plan of unions. "no compromise!" Many lose their jobs.
The 'customer is always right' isn't because business is enamored with all customers-just speak to any that have actually dealt with them-rather, an acknowledgment that it is the customer that fuels the business, the profits-that will pay the employees, owner(s) including stockholders.
Most businesses pay somewhat more than minimum wage to entry employees not out of altruism (shock), but to try to attract workers that will provide decent service to customers, thus making more $$$ through sales.
In general, the businesses being addressed regarding minimum wage discussion are retail and food industry, both with very slim profit margins.
As someone above already posted, a single person working for minimum wage is already above the poverty line. Indeed, if they are working a 40 hour week, not likely today, they wouldn't qualify for SNAP benefits.
IL 'minimum' wage is I believe today, $8.25. If one continues to work for most employers in the same position, they will be over $10 per hour in about 2.75 years. Many cap at $11.00, figuring one should move on or up by that time. Only those without skills or need stay longer.
No....we believe that business serves society, and because of that service, they become wealthy. But when business breaks from their role and decides to fuck over their workers....and by default....society....we believe that society needs to reign them in.
That actually sounds much more like the social contract between government and the people.
In other words, you got nothing
Only for your small mind.
My small mind? Let's see, the vast majority of the people of this country work as employees. That means a smaller group are employers. Employers who rely on sales of their goods and/or services for their success. They also rely on their employees to make or sell those goods and provide those services.
Are ya with me so far, sweetheart?
What happens when a large portion of the workforce are in low wage positions? What happens to the economy? What happens to sales and services?
Well, here in the U.S. we supplement those low wages with taxpayer funds. So, next time you're eating your Mcdouble for a buck....tack on the price of food stamps, Medicaid and housing allowances and tell me again how they aren't fucking over society.

Now as somebody who worked in a minimum wage job recently enough to know what little they ask, I'll tell you that 7.25 an hour is about the level of service you get from somebody you pay that much. They do the minimum to get by and not get shouted at and call it quits. They were able to train me to do that job in 8 hours, everything I needed to know. Now explain to me why they should be paid 15 dollars an hour for something a 17 year old kid can do with no prior training or skill.
Shoot, I don't think the enlisted troops in the military are paid that well and they have several weeks of training and get shot at.
You don't do condescension well, you might want to work on that.

Fuck I would have been happy if I was making minimum wage in the Corps.
