Emmett Till / Trayvon Martin - An Awakening to Racist Evil in America

It's what 17 year old black boys do with their peers. Has nothing to do with walking down a street, minding his business, talking on a cell phone, while being stalked by a racist.

Looks like 17 year old black boys also assault other people; because they think that their black privilige will protect them.

I'm not interested in what you think of the trial, Martin, or black people.

I've been watching shit like this all my life .. something you have no understanding of, no context.

Don't presume to lecture me about race in America.

Will this help?

Will my Father's Girlfriends son, who I think of as a brother, be safe from thugs like George Zimmerman, prowling the night, looking to harass and kill any young black male around? I think not.

What if the situations had been reversed, what if Zimmerman had been the one unarmed and Trayvon Martin had the gun, shot him, and was the one to claim, now that he had eliminated all witnesses, that Zimmerman was the aggressor? To young black males around the nation, I advise this, if your state has a non-self-defense law, carry at all times, and the minute some honkey starts harassing you, pop a cap in their fucking ass. Because if you don't, they'll do it first.

Your teenage son or daughter is walking home in the rain, it is growing dark, she is on the phone with a friend and eating the candy she just bought from a nearby convenience store. The hood is up on her jacket when a man starts following her in his car. She mentions this to a friend on the phone. Your son keeps walking. Soon your daughter walks behind a building, and the man in the car gets out and follows her. Your son does not know what motivates the follower. Soon they are so close, fear of each other causes a scuffle. Your daughter does not realize the man is armed with a gun. She fights the man to the ground and in the melee he is injured. He pulls a gun and kills your daughter. How do you feel? What gave him the right to follow and pursue your son or daughter. What motivated him to follow.

I thought the piece below spot on.

"What the verdict says, to the astonishment of tens of millions of us, is that you can go looking for trouble in Florida, with a gun and a great deal of racial bias, and you can find that trouble, and you can act upon that trouble in a way that leaves a young man dead, and none of it guarantees that you will be convicted of a crime." link below

"Of course the deadly meeting last year between Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman had at its core a racial element. Of course its tragic result reminds us that the nation, in ways too many of our leaders refuse to acknowledge, is still riven by race. The story of Martin and Zimmerman is the story of crime and punishment in America, and of racial disparities in capital sentencing, and in marijuana prosecutions, and in countless other things. But it wasn't Judge Debra Nelson's job to conduct a seminar on race relations in 2013. It wasn't her job to help America bridge its racial divide. It was her job to give Zimmerman a fair trial. And she did.

So the murder trial of George Zimmerman did not allow jurors to deliberate over the fairness of Florida's outlandishly broad self-defense laws. It did not allow them debate the virtues of the state's liberal gun laws or its evident tolerance for vigilantes (which we now politely call "neighborhood watch"). It did not permit them to delve into the racial profiling that Zimmerman may have engaged in or into the misconduct and mischief that Martin may have engaged in long before he took that fatal trip to the store for candy. These factors, these elements, part of the more complete picture of this tragedy, were off-limits to the ultimate decision-makers." Andrew Cohen

What a great story. It is missing one salient point. My imaginary son/daughter is 40 yards from home. Why doesn't he/she go straight home to SAFETY?

Or why doesn't this imaginary child call the police with said cell phone? Why not call parents?

Is the only option available to said child confronting and accosting the follower?

Do you honestly believe that?

Because if you do you are guilty of the same Prejudicial stereotyping you accuse others of...

I certainly dont think a Majority of any group is evil... hell the percentage is fractional at best. Maybe 1% at the very most..

But 60%... All that tells us is that you are prejudiced and you have a beef with white Americans.

and for the record.... My people were slaves fro the 14th Century onward till the middle of the 19th. almost 3/4 of my people were shipped of and sold as slaves. 75% of an entire race and we endured it for almost 600 years.

I'm not holding a grudge... why are you?

Please. In my 60 years of life on this planet...the only thing that has given me hope and joy is the 40 % . And I am probably the least prejudiced person here. I don't have a beef with white Americans....I have a beef with racism, and bigotry, from any source. The sad thing is that so many whites are prejudiced and racist, and discriminatory and refuse to be accountable for it.
And I have no idea what you are talking about. Who are your people, who were slaves? What is that supposed to mean?

Maybe Poet defines "evil" as "disagreeing with him"?

Really? Putting words in my mouth? I know what constitutes "evil". And I have no problem with people disagreeing with me. But I do have a problem with people disagreeing while using "white privilege" to justify their disagreement. That, IMHO, "is" evil.

You probably think the blacks were the only folks to be enslaved in the entire history of the world.

Oddly every other race, religion and ethnicity found a way to push through except yours. Hundreds of years later and you are still bitching. Get over it already.

The victory in the murder of Emmett Till in 1955 was that it was the catalyst that inspired one of the most dramatic social changes the world has ever known in the Civil Rights movement in America. On the world stage, It torn a giant hole in the facade of America as a land of justice, freedom, and opportunity. American racism was once again exposed for all the world to see .. and the bravery of Mamie Till to leave the casket of her son open for all the world to see left no doubt about the horrors innocent people had to endure in this land of monsters.

Emmett-Till.jpeg

The monsters that did this walked free, declared 'innocent.'

Today, nearly 60 years later, another all-white southern jury declares another murderer of another black boy free and 'innocent' on the world stage .. and once again, the monsters celebrate .. and once again, American evil is exposed to all the world.

It took 364 years for African-Americans to gain basic human rights in this so-called 'land of the free.'

364 years of horrors, oppression, and terrorism before being granted second-class citizenship in America.

The glaring message of the Martin trial .. in spite of the Civil Rights Act, and in spite of a black president, African-Americans are still second-class citizens in a country we've been in for 400 years.

African-Americans we are, and will always remain. Something more of us need to teach our children.

You've let the gun-nutters and their weird cranks shame you before the world for racist murder yet again. You'll never get any respect from others or even from yourselves until you face up to them them and lock their crazy leaders away. They hate real Americans and live only to bully and kill.

I don't know. Why don't you ask them

Wait. You can't.

BECAUSE YOUR KID IS FUCKING DEAD!

The only saving grace to come from this horror is that, like the murder of Emmett Till, the EVIL of American racism is once again glaringly on the world stage .. and the divide between the insane and people of conscience is now even wider.

A great many WHITE PEOPLE all across the country stand with Martin and his family .. tempering any outrage against all white people .. something I had to reconcile even within my own heart.

Most of this particular EVIL resides on the republican side of the aisle .. a truth that needs to be said LOUDLY and repeatedly .. and if they never win another national election again, that will be too soon for me.

WHAT?

I've let WHAT?

Yeah-yeah
Everytime there's a black/white confrontation, the white person has to be in the wrong; because the other person is black.
Doesn't matter what the facts are, the Black person just has to be the victim.

We get it. :palm:

You are a sick fuck. You make me ashamed to be white.
