Are the Bible Thumpers Losing Their Grip on Our Politics?

If you went to the link you know that's not true, maybe you should step away from the cannabis.

Just ignore the idiot.
You don't even have to put the idiot on IA, just ignore him; because you're trying to educate a rock.

The mods keep banning people, who they say violate "Rule 14"; but they allow Topspin/The Dude to continue.

I agree with you. I think the term "Christocapitalist" is a much more accurate description than religious right. It's not like relgion is their real agenda where as making a profit damned sure is.

No it's been narrowed down to anybody who has a family Bible and a gun in his house is a member of the religious right.

Christian left? which would that be abortion lovers, sodomy lovers, just curious?

Or perhaps those Christians who choose not to push for laws based solely on their religious beliefs? Perhaps those Christians who choose to be compassionate members of society instead of promoting hatred? Perhaps those Christians who choose to spend their extra time helping the world be a better place, and spending their moneyto help people rather than building another gaudy mega-church or to back some hate-filled piece of legislation?

I'm guessing that is what they meant.

No I am just not going to let you back me into a corner over what I believe. Theocracy? no but i do not subscribe to the watered down theology of the left. Reproductive RIGHTS, show me where the constitution speaks about being able to kill babies, or allowing gays to marry, oh and gays can't reproduce with each other which is what makes it unnatural.

So every couple who cannot reproduce (because of age or medical issue) is in an unnatural marriage?

Personally, I think it refers to the Cornel West types who direct their efforts at institutionalized racism, poverty, incarceration, and militarism. None of these things, may I add, are any concern of the "Christian" right.

Watered down theology of the left? The left, in large part, rejects your infantile theology outright.

Your family are wasps that dominated the northeast and controlled America and it's government for many decades. Sorry to tell you this witch but the wasps were racists and progressive totalitarians.

And you wouldn't know who the religious right was if you fell over it. "The Religious Right" is a political term that was created by the progressive eastern establishment and it includes everybody who's strong on both the first and second amendments.

Bibles aren't the only things we like to thump on also professor.

The Religious Right is a description of those who want their religious beliefs to be the law. You know, lik ethose opposed to gay marriage, those who support Blue Laws, those who demand that their only be one religion in our gov't?

Jerry Falwell was one of the founders of the movement. He worked for years to ban all porn. Apparently it is more important that we not see naked people than it is to feed hungry people.

Show me where the Constitution says you need photo ID to vote.

I love Cornell West, he is so smart and so positive!

Where does the constitution say gays CAN'T marry? Where does the constitution address abortion?

And, as WB so wisely says - are you really saying couples who can't/won't reproduce shouldn't marry?

The Christian Right appears to be in decline, yet Republicans still pander to them. What gives?

I didn't read the article but I can explain this short and sweet.

The Bible teaches "Free will" Not forced religion. It openly discusses not to force religion when it talks about "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and "do not judge or be judged". Laws that force a Christian perspective are not free will and they are judging and those exact people sin themselves, only differently.

Like Ghandi said, "I like your Christ, but dislike your Christians"
