Blacks have been played big time by the democrats

#AMERICAISDEAD
For some time, the democrats have peddled the myth that after the Civil Rights legislation passed, that the parties reversed and all of a sudden the democrats were no longer racist and the party of the KKK, Jim Crow and all other assorted atrocities against black people. Blacks have been fed a lie about the so called "Southern Strategy" and have been duped into believing it and voting against their interests and for a party that has brutalized them.

Their entire myth rests on three supposed "FACTS"

Myth #1: Barry Goldwater voted against the Civil Rights Act and since Barry Goldwater was a Republican nominee the republican party is racist because he made a racist vote. But, the truth is that Barry Goldwater voted for every Civil Rights bill that came before except the last one. Barry Goldwater integrated the Arizona National Guard and was ahead of his time on racial issues. He voted against the Civil Rights bill because he opposed the private property provisions in the legislation. He believed the free market should govern private property.

Myth #2 After the Civil Rights legislation passed, all of the racist democrats became republicans. Now this line of reasoning fails the logic test. If people opposed Civil Rights, why would they join the party that voted overwhelmingly to pass Civil Rights? Can anyone explain that? It makes no sense. Additionally, other than Strom Thurmond, no other democrat in the US Senate that opposed Civil Rights switched to the GOP. And Thurmond didn't do it right away. William Fulbright (Bill Clintons mentor), Al Gore Sr. (yeah him), George Wallace (more on him later), Fritz Hollings and Robert "KKK" Byrd all either retired or died as Democrats. Thurmond left the democrat party in 1948 after Truman's efforts at Civil Rights and ran as a Dixiecrat. When he lost his bid for the Presidency, he returned to the democrat party and then switched to the GOP in 1964. So the whole democrats switched parties falls flat on its face. Lastly, up until the 2000s, democrats still had a registration advantage in the South. If these so called racist democrats were so mad why didn't they officially switch parties? No, it wasn't race that drove the South to the GOP, it was economic issues.

Myth #3 Richard Nixon ran a campaign in 1968 based on "code words" designed to appeal to the racist democrats and that is how he won the election. This is probably the most egregious lie.

FACT The lie got its start from a bogus NY Times article where an unnamed editor didn't even read the article which I have placed here for your reading pleasure. If you read the article which the editor did not, you will see that Nixon rejected the notion and Phillips was turned down when he offered to work for the campaign.

http://www.nytimes.com/packages/html/books/phillips-southern.pdf

FACT There were three candidates in 1968. Hubert Humphrey, Richard Nixon and George Wallace. George Wallace for the uninformed was the racist Governor of Alabama who ordered Bull Connor to attack Martin Luther King.

FACT Richard Nixon wrote in his memoir “The deep south had to be virtually conceded to George Wallace. I could not match him there without compromising on civil rights, which I would not do.”

FACT The Washington Post on September 15, 1968 headlined “Nixon Sped Integration, Wallace says” Wallace declared that Nixon agreed with Supreme Court Justice Earl Warren and played a role in ”the destruction of public school system.” Wallace pledged to restore the school system, in the same article, by giving it back to the states ”lock, stock, and barrel.”

FACT Nixon persuaded Eisenhower to put Earl Warren on the Supreme Court fully aware of Warren's stance on Civil Rights

FACT Among the southern states, George Wallace won Arkansas , Mississippi , Alabama , Georgia and Louisiana . Nixon won North Carolina , South Carolina , Florida , Virginia , and Tennessee. Of those, only North Carolina and South Carolina did not vote for Nixon in 1960

Now here is the craziest thing that makes absolutely no sense. Remember that guy George Wallace? You know the guy. He was a democrat Governor of Alabama. He famously said "In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." He tried to stop segregation in schools. As stated before, he orderd Bull Connor to attack Martin Luther King Jr.

Now this is where it gets really awesome. After George Wallace's failed third party attempt at running for President, he went back to being a democrat and ran for Governor of Alabama again in 1970. Not surprisingly, he won. But, here is the really surprising part. Despite Wallace's atrocities committed against blacks, they actually voted for him. Can you believe that?

African Americans accounted for more than half of the population the city of Selma which is in Dallas County , Alabama . According David Leip’s Atlas of U.S. Elections, Wallace won Dallas County with 58.3 percent of the vote. That means Wallace could not have won without a significant portion of the black vote.

Wallace also did well in Montgomery County where he won 48.3 percent of the vote. The city of Montgomery also has a very large African American population.

Lastly, the myth being perpetrated by the left is that the democrats were the champions of Civil Rights led by LBJ. That is one of the biggest lies of all. LBJ saw the writing on the wall. He famously opposed Civil Rights throughout his entire political career. He only came around when he was scared that continuing to oppose them would cost democrats. He famously said

"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. For if we don't move at all, then their allies will line up against us and there'll be no way of stopping them, we'll lose the filibuster and there'll be no way of putting a brake on all sorts of wild legislation. It'll be Reconstruction all over again."

Now, I have no illusion that these facts will change any of the left wing minds. They are too entrenched in their biases and their cognitive dissonance. Without the Mythical Southern Strategy, they would be forced to acknowledge their parties racist past and they can't do that for two reasons. First it would be too painful. Secondly, they can't afford for blacks to leave their political plantation. Given that blacks actually voted for George Wallace, it is clear that they aren't too keen on their own Civil Rights.

Fact, democrats, and liberals, don't like history until they can use disinformation to rewrite it.
But I like your post!

stfu already. Your revisionist history lessons are not the key to winning votes for the GOP (even though you claim not to be a supporter/member). Make changes now and maybe stop ignoring the racist policies and attitudes. And it's not about welfare either, you pos. There is no doubt that the criminal justice system still has a racial bias. Stop and frisk in New York, the drug war, etc.. Also, maybe if you quit being a bigot towards other groups, e.g., immigrants, Muslims and homosexuals, that might show you have changed. But instead your dumb ass thinks the way to appeal to minorities is by finding a common interest in hate against some other group.

Your demographic breakdown proves only that you are quite stupid and dishonest. It does not establish that ANY blacks voted for Wallace.

Selma and Dallas County were the center of the White Citizens' Council movement in Alabama in the 1950s and early 1960s. Blacks remained a powerless majority. More than fifteen thousand black men and women were of voting age in 1963; fewer than two hundred and fifty had been able to place their names on the Dallas County voting rolls.

Your quotes from Johnson are only the unsubstantiated claims of Ronald Kessler. You dishonestly or ignorantly repeat them as if they are well sourced and not in need of a citation, but they are nothing more than hearsay.

Nothing revisionist about it beeeyotch. You like all dems don't like your racist past thrown in your faces so you concocted the myth that all of your racist brethren switched parties. We know that not to be the case.

Yeah, revisionist is too kind. You are just absolutely full of shit. I am not a Democrat.

Blacks in Selma and Dallas County did not vote for Wallace because they were disenfranchised. The quote that Johnson "famously said" is no more valid than a purely fictional claim.

I don't have a racist past, moron. You show the typical tribalistic group think of a racist, same as exhibited by your silly rabbit. I was not yet born when Johnson was in office or when Wallace ran for President. The past actions of Democrats, Republicans or even Libertarians are not my past or burden.

GOP Memo Admits Plan Could 'Keep Black Vote Down'

October 25, 1986|From the Washington Post

NEWARK, N.J. — A Republican National Committee official calculated that a so-called ballot security program in Louisiana "could keep the black vote down considerably," according to documents released in federal court Friday.

The documents and court hearing were the latest developments in a controversy over the GOP's ballot program that Democrats maintain is aimed at reducing minority turnout. The Republicans say the program's sole purpose is to purge ineligible voters from voting roles.

Judge Denies Republicans' Effort To End Voter Intimidation Consent Decree

December 9, 2009 by Personal Liberty News Desk

Last week, a federal judge in New Jersey rejected an attempt by the Republican National Committee (RNC) to dissolve a 27-year-old court order that is intended to prevent the intimidation of minority voters.

Stemming from a lawsuit brought forth by the Democratic National Committee in 1982, a consent decree was agreed upon which forced the RNC to gain court approval to use certain election tactics, including the creation of voter challenge lists, photographing voters at the polls and posting off-duty police at voting locations in minority neighborhoods, according to The New York Times.

why are you on the right denying decades of more recent history?

court documentation that proves the republican party has cheated black voters for decades

You found two things you take issue with yet ignore the rest? Fuck off democrat shill bitch

Told ya they are changing the History to fit what they want, but they are nothing but paid shills for Obama and the libs. The are using incremental change, and disinformation to drive their agenda, so no one pays attention to all they are doing to destroy the country from within.

I got exactly the response I expected out of them. But, the facts are the facts.

They were not minor issues. Your argument is nothing more than fraudulent history and strawmen. It is absolutely race that has driven the south to the GOP. Most of them are still populists/nationalists and do not advocate for free markets (including you), except if it is to argue for the supposedly free market "right" to discriminate.

You are a lying racist bitch trying to cover up the dirty deeds of your party.

Run along beeeyotch, you are dismissed

I win again

Yeah, except I have not attempted to cover up any of the racist past of the Democratic Party. It was the Democratic Party under Wallace that disenfranchised blacks and won his election from white racist votes. Again, I am a Libertarian not a Democrat, though I am not the blinders wearing true believer type partisan as you are for Republicans.

Part of your strawman is the notion that the transition all happened en masse in 1964 or 1968. Nobody argues that. Alabama did not come under control of the GOP until 2000. But the racists sacks of shit there were voting for GOP presidents prior to that while still supporting Democrats locally.

We were not all born yesterday and the only ones you are going to fool with your fraudulent history is those that were or who have kept their heads up their ass.

Oh great. Another fucking faux libertarian who just wants to smoke dope. Cool

Still trying to figger out how Topspin can groan my posts when he claims to have me on ignore. Maybe he is another one of those fucking stupid libtards who doesn't really know how to use it or he is a big fucking faker.

So black people generally don't vote for Republicans today becuase liberals have lied about what happened 45+ years ago?

LOLers.

Oh great. Another fucking faux libertarian who just wants to smoke dope. Cool

No, I am an actual liberatrian and advocate of free markets not some lying sack of ... that would support free markets in say, marijuana, but only if every other ideal is met first. I am willing to support expansions of the free market and don't insist on some fairytale bullshit, like you. Likewise I am willing to support actual cuts in government spending wherever they can be achieved and not insisting that they only come from programs aimed at helping the poor.

Conspiratard. We can get paid for this? Where? So you think a static system is the only viable one. Then why have a Congress?
