8th grader suspended and arrested for wearing an NRA t-shirt??

Bawahahaha, Jeebus, your debate skills have now deteriorated to the point you are using "blame the liberals for everything".

I never thought I would see this happen to you. I use to really respect your posting style.
The difference is, tomorrow, or next week, I will be blaming rightwingers for their idiocy. Both fringes are primarily made up of idiots. However, they can only see the idiocy in the other side. That whole mote, speck thing.

The only thing I saw in the dress code was not to wear anything "disruptive." And the irony is that it wouldn't have been, if the teacher didn't make a big deal about it.
Again, moot point. He wasn't arrested for the shirt. He was arrested for disruptive behavior. If the kid was polite and wasn't disruptive and the investigation bears that out then good for him. If not and he was disruptive, he got what he deserved. It's not about the shirt.

An important lesson here is how to react when you have been wronged. If you react by lowering youself to their level, or overeact in an unprofessional way or by breaking other legitatmate laws, you LOSE.

If you react calmly, professionally and peacefully, addressing every formal avenue available for redress befor breaking the rule intentionally... You just might change the world.

Rosa Parks did it!

Bend over and take it... Jaruds 'proper' reaction to authoritative abuse.

Wow... so you do not hold the teacher accountable for any of this? What if it is found that it was the TEACHER that was in the wrong? Should the teacher then be arrested and suspended? I think so.

Really? I thought Soc's response was spot on. Every time you get into a gun debate with so many on the left (at least on message boards) it always turns to the "penal extension" which is laughable. He called Mott on it and encouraged him to get back on topic.

Notice I limited this response the left often uses on this issue to "on message boards." I've never had anyone use the on me in a face to face debate but have decided if it ever happens I will resort to the slogan we had in high school - when in doubt, whip it out. ;-)

The OP is about the shirt. You're really harping on the arrest. I don't think WB meant to be misleading in the OP; to me, he's clearly more concerned about the reaction to the shirt.

Which was ridiculous, btw - and which everyone on the right & left who believes in freedom should think is ridiculous.

In loco parentis, I learned all about it when challenging school authority.

The teacher may have been in error, but there is a way to challenge school rules properly. I have challenged and won, but I always tell my children to comply, then I will come to their defense if they are correct.

False, I simply said address every legitatmate avenue of redress before resorting to civil disobedence. When you do resort to civil disobedence, do it peacefully and calmly and you will get far.

Look at one of my heros Roas Parks.

There are all kinds of ways to react to things - I tend to favor more calm methods. But some think more disruptive methods are more effective (and historically, both means have been effective at certain times).

Oh, and on the overall gist of this I do want to wait until all of the facts come out, but do tend to think that if the kid did indeed cause such a disturbance then he deserved to be kicked out of school...but probably not arrested. There is a right way and a wrong way to handle situations like this on both sides, the school's as well as the kid's/parent's. sounds like neither side handled it well.

Dig them up... show us what the school says this kid did to disrupt the school.

Everything I have seen thus far shows it was the TEACHER that caused the disruption. Yet the TEACHER has not been suspended or punished in any way. Everything I have seen thus far keeps saying the school isn't commenting on this yet... I wonder why?

Since the so-called father of this kid (apparently he's a stepfather...why won't he adopt him?) admits on his youtube channel (must see!) that he was arrested for resisting an officer and disrupting school, there's not much doubt about that, is there?

People have been arrested for simply refusing to stop recording a police officer in the line of duty. Almost every time the cop has been wrong. But as Mott says, you must respect their authority.

Who here is arguing he has no right to wear the shirt?

Respect mah authoritah!
LOL.....Tell The Truth!!

That's what's so aggravating about gun nuts on this issue. It's the manner in which you incredibly over react if someone even tangentially disagrees with you.

You keep dishonetly trying to make this an issue about gun rights, what's said on a tshirt, authority, etc and it's all bullshit.

You won't admit to the honest fact that what landed this kid in hot water was his behavior, not what he was weearing.

You're either being incredibly obtuse, as Rana observed, or just plain dishonest.

It's not about the shirt.

Look at one of my heros Roas Parks.

1) He did by all accounts do so
2) Quit comparing this to Rosa Parks... you think you are being clever, but you are insulting what Parks did by doing so. They are nowhere near the same.

Who here is arguing he has no right to wear the shirt?

No one is arguing that, but neither is anyone arguing that the shirt is the reason he got arrested.

I'm just surprised at the reaction to the story. I would hope a story like this would engender more of a reaction about the intolerance for wearing a simple t-shirt.
