8th grader suspended and arrested for wearing an NRA t-shirt??

That's where the teacher fucked up by addressing the kid cause he was offended by his NRA shirt. He should have just pulled the old "This shirt violates the dress code." and sent his ass home. That happened to me twice when I was in high school and the courts have given leeway to schools to enforce dress codes. So the teacher handled it poorly. The students response though was inappropriate and it was his response that got him in hot water, not the stupid shirt.

At our schools they don't get to go home, you have to turn the shirt inside out, lol.

What was the "inapporpriate" response, that he was supposed to have made?
He jumped on a table in the cafeteria and started yelling and shouting about his cause and pretty much started a mini-riot in the cafeteria. I have admit, I like the kids spirit and enthusiasm.....but that was not appropriate.

He should do what I did with my kids. I told them the school is always right. Then if they persisted, I investigated the complaint and repeated that the school is always right.

What happens if this kid gets a job and decides he's entitled to wear whatever he wants despite the corporate clothing policy? Is he going to take Bank of America to court because they told him to wear a suit?

Oh, Sty... one of my sons went to an NRA gun training camp and got an NRA t-shirt, which he wore to middle school with no repercussions. But if the school had told him he wasn't allowed to wear it anymore, he would have complied.
The Shirt was NOT a violation of the schools dress code. They already admitted that. One of the TEACHERS didn't like it because it opposed his left wing authoritarian mind set. What I find most interesting is that liberals used to stand up for the rights of people who expressed unpopular view points. Now, any time a right wing person gets his rights violated liberals tell him to suck it up. If this was a kid who was wearing a shirt expounding on free speech, or a shirt that supported the ERA and got kicked out AND arrested you fucking lefties would blow a gasket. I guess at the same time, it's a little ironic that righties are now outraged about someone's free speech rights being violated after the decades of history where they have opposed jackets that said fuck the draft, and opposed kids wearing black armbands in opposition of war.

Exactly. Twelve-year olds aren't supposed to be sassing their teachers. Sty doesn't get that because he supports anarchy.

I was sent home once cause I had a t-shirt with a picture of an egg in a nest and the egg was smiling and the caption read "You'd smile too if you'd just got laid." the other time was for wearing a Rush t-shirt with the naked man in the pentagram.

Yeah, they told the kid to do that and he refused. I'd like to know where pre-teens get the idea they can call the shots without repercussions. The kid needs to learn respect for his elders.

That's a crock of bullshit and it fails the reality test. In reality, the kid wasn't arrested for what he was wearing. That's just bullshit.

How was his response "inappropriate"?

You dumbass, this shirt did NOT violate the dress code or any other policy. The school let him back in after only one day, and the day he came back to school 100 kids wore the same shirt.

After Student is Suspended and Arrested for Wearing NRA “Protect Your Rights,” 100 STUDENTS WEAR SHIRT TO SCHOOL!

When Jared Marcum was suspended from school and arrested for wearing a NRA “Protect Your Rights” t-shirt, it drew national attention. Afterwards, the liberal bullies at Logan County Schools who thought they could get away with picking on a 14 year old kid started to become a lot more reasonable.
It didn’t hurt that video turned up that showed a teacher yelling at Jared for refusing to turn his shirt inside out, while his fellow students were chanting his name in support.

lthough the petulant school did not apologize or talk to Jared’s father, his suspension turned out to only be a day long.
The Marcum family, their lawyer Ben White and the gun rights group Sons of the Second Amendment didn’t just meekly accept the school’s non-apology.
Jared Marcum returned to school wearing the SAME SHIRT. Moreover, he was joined by a 100 other students wearing NRA “Protect Your Rights” shirts that were provided by Sons of the Second Amendment. None of them were suspended or arrested for wearing the shirts.
Additionally, although the charges against Jared Marcum have not been dropped, his lawyer said that, “My sense is that no charges will be imminent.”

Show me where I said that his shirt violated the schools dress code. Show me where I said that in exact words. Learn to read before you go spazing out. The kids behavior was inappropriate and he got dinged for it. Deal with it. Ya'll are making a mountain out of a molehill.

It was on yahoo earlier today. Go look it up. This is much ado about nothing. If the kid had been wearing a "Free Willy" t-shirt and been told to remove it and spazzed out we wouldn't even be talking about this.
