Leave it to Family Research Council to come up with this level of stupid.

"I'm very concerned about this measure; I am concerned about where it may go once it gets to the Senate floor and what might happen in the House. This idea of background checks is very concerning given the fact that the United States military has been increasingly showing hostility toward evangelicals and Catholics as being somehow threats to national security and people that need to be watched.

"Well, what does that have to do with gun control? Well, what happens if all the sudden you are identified as an evangelical, bible-believing fundamentalist and the government decides you've got to be put on a watch list? Part of the provisions of this background check is kind of a system where if a caution comes up when they put your name in, you don't get a chance to buy a gun."

If your name's on a watch list, the kind of fundamentalist you are probably isn't the peace, love, and flowers in guns sort. Would I be comfortable with keeping guns away from dangerous religious extremists? Yea...

just last week we had a thread about a government employee putting evangelical Christians, Catholics and Mormons on a list of dangerous extremist groups.....now you're going to pretend it could never happen?......

For those who are unfamiliar, the sovereign citizen movement is comprised of individuals who believe that they are free from state, local and federal laws. It is a loosely affiliated group that rejects many elements of governance, including, but not limited to, taxation.

As TheBlaze’s Jonathon M. Seidl explained last year, “They’re a mixed bag. Some reject their U.S. citizenship and don’t recognize government authority, like laws and taxes. But others don’t, and are more concerned with private property.” Of late, officials have cited a heightened potential of violence among these individuals as well tax evasion and other related crimes...

1st time I ever quoted theblaze

ohhhh it's so shocking that most of our home grown terrorists are christian! Terrorists are terrorists no matter what their religion or reasons for killing.

Sounds like some here support Christian terrorism.

WOW...so a "sovereign citizen" is someone who believes this country was founded on Godly principles...

"Based on Trowbridge’s account, Kluczynski was essentially saying that Bible-believing Christians who take the holy book literally are more likely to embrace such notions."

So what he's saying is Christians are more likely to embrace the notion that this nation was founded on Godly principles and therefore don't recognize Government authority...

Well, that's just crazy talk is what that is!

I guess Pimp doesn't have an answer.

Any group, regardless of or lacking of, religious guidance that is a proponent of violence based upon hatred, shoulld be identified as such.

Does the Family Research Council fall under these guidelines? Perhaps.
