People like you are why I left the Republican party and it's why the Republican party has become a provincial minority party. The'vey taken the southern strategy, and people like you who accept it's European style aristocracy and its institutionalized bigotry, to its absurd extreme. There are no more Rockefeller Republicans left. They've all become independents and blue dog democrats and its indicitive of their own ignorance when they believe the conservative lie that those who believe in the Keynesian economic model, the defining economic system of all western democracies, as "SOCIALISM".

We do agree on one thing though. I see zero conservatives in the Republican party either. I see mostly political reactionaries. Like you, those who are threatened, scared, uncertain and lack the neccessary skills to adapt to modern society. Life must suck for them.

Mott, how is secession not liberalism, but the American Revolution, supported by such conservatives as Adams and Washington, IS liberalism. Particularly since the South was home to the party of Jefferson.

They've bent over backwards to institutionalize racism, i.e. Slavery, Jim Crow Laws, disenfranchising voeters, etc, etc. They've opposed our ideas of freedom and liberty as every major expansion of freedom and liberty in our nations history, from our independence from England, to the ratification of our constitution, to the elimination of slavery, to the enfranchisement of women and minorities to the enforcement of, labor rights, civil rights, to gay rights, conservatives like you have resisted, fought and even committed high treason, as in the case of the civil war, over expanding those freedoms and liberties.

Apparently you don't know the difference between fact and opinion. Those are hard cold facts. Everytime we've tried to expand freedom and liberty in this nation it has been vehemently opposed by conservatives. Fact, not opinion.

He said Conservatives....not Republicans. In those days Southern Democrats were you guys.... times have changed. The Southern Strategy of the Republican Party worked and those blue states turned red...but the mentality is the same

The whole southern strategy is a concocted myth to try to shield dems from their racist past. I mean if negros learned the truth, they might run from the dem plantation.
 
Lol at Mott's claim that Federalists like Washington and Adams were not conservatives. Yes, Mott, the Jeffersonians were liberals, and in 1861, they were still liberals. Congrats on figuring that out.
 
mott you should be smart enough to know that terms like "conservative" are very meaningless without context. A conservative back then (one who supported the current government, the taxes, tarrifs, etc would have quite a lot in common with "liberals" today).
