My complaints aren't with the 2nd amendment, but rather with those who absolutely refuse to compromise with the vast majority of Americans who want better regulation of firearms.

My understanding of the issue the majority want less crime and certainly no more massacres but more gun regulations will not sole that issue. The desire to solve the mass murder problem is being used by the anti-gun groups/politicians.
How about limiting the access to guns by the mentally disturbed first rather than attempting to punish and disarm the law abiding citizen? Federal government using this issue as a club to beat down our rights and eventually grab the guns is wrong on so many levels. As is their primary aim at battle rifles when its handguns that are used in the vast majority gun related deaths/murders in USA. Why concentrate on the military/battle rifles if not to defeat the purpose of the 2nd?
Denying our government's anti-gun agenda and its true objective only serves to make the opposition look like liars, accomplices or damn fools to we pro-gun people.

It's more than that. LaPierre himself got a 4F deferment from serving in the military for a mental disorder. He's probably scared the leader of the NRA will lose his guns if restrictions on the mentally ill are passed.

gun rights are very similar in a lot of respects, because guns allow people to protect their bodies from harm. They ensure the individuals freedom and help people maintain agency over themselves.
