For Darla - A Democratic Sexist Male

You know you have a serious problem when you are out in the real world and a conversation you are having which has nothing to do with politics reminds you of this board. My name is Cawacko and I'm a JPP addict.

I had a drink last week with this 24 year old girl who works in the office where I used to work and works on a team of three guys who I worked with and am good friends with. She was telling me what was going on with the team and their business and her attempts at getting more responsibilities, more work and ultimately more money. She brought up the senior guy on the team who is 56, a great great guy, and also happens to be a Democrat. The girl mentioned that she thinks the senior guy treats her in a paternalistic and almost condescending type way when she discusses her role with the team and possible advancement. She then said she thinks at times he is flat out sexist towards her.

At this point I laughed and the girl looked at me like WTF? I laughed because of course everything has to be political and I thought 'this senior guy is a Democrat, he can't be sexist' and I thought of Darla. (This was going through my head, I didn't actually say this to the girl). Now I know in the past you've said Democratic males can be sexist as well but how bad is it when I having a work conversation with someone I can think of both politics and JPP?

My name is Cawacko and I am a JPP addict.

That is pretty funny Cawacko.

I always say that democratic men can be very sexist. I think that sexism on the male left is rampant. It's just different. I mean they are not going to go full bravo and start talking about the bitches in the short skirts deserving it. But especially with the kind of sexism you are describing here, politicsl affiliation is irrelevant. I've had so much of that around politically active dem/lib men forget about it.

Of course you are right, dear.

I'm so glad you didn't accuse them of that Darla, because that would make nothing more than a lying ass bitch yourself...why?...because Bravo never said any such thing in the first place.

Unlike 3D, I naturally think of Darla when some fool mis-represents what a poster says out of ignorant partisanship ....

BTW, Cawacko, is she hot?

Dude, she is! Hot southern girl to boot. My wife was with us so I was trying to play it cool but I was just waiting for her to say the guys on her team were hitting on her at some point. I probably would have broke out with 'I don't blame them' but fortunately I was not put into that situation.

:barf:

I feel kinda weird that you are all saying you have thought of me when sexism comes up in real life. I mean, I'm the only feminist you all know? How can this be? Also, you know, I am not solely defined by my feminism. I do write about a lot of other things that are important to me. Maybe it's because there are so many male sexist pigs littering this board and the subject comes up so often.
