Continuing its pattern of confrontational rhetoric, North Korea has reportedly produced a propaganda video showing the U.S. under attack and the White House in the crosshairs.

The video, titled “Firestorms will rain on the Headquarters of War,” was posted Monday on the YouTube channel for North Korea’s official website, Uriminzokkiri, an arm of the government that disseminates news and propaganda from state media, AFP reports.

The first two minutes used still photos of US fighter jets, B-52 bombers and aircraft carriers to portray the United States as a bullying nuclear power intent on bending Pyongyang to its will.

“Second by second, the fuse of a nuclear war is burning,” a female narrator warned.

It then showed a sniper’s crosshairs superimposed over the White House, before switching to animated footage of the dome of the US Capitol building exploding in a fireball.

“There is no limit to the range of our strategic rockets,” the narrator said.

This type of agitation is not unusual for North Korea. In fact, the country actually threatened the U.S. with a pre-emptive nuclear strike following strict UN sanctions imposed after its nuclear test last month.

The United States responded by announcing plans to boost West Coast missile defenses.

Even N. Korea fully understands that a nuke used against the US will mean total and complete destruction of their state. They posture and make threats all the time, they consider it to be part of treaty negotiations.

It's funny as hell these idiots actually think it's as easy to launch a missile at the US as it is to make a cheesy video.

For sixty years, North Korea has been the big fat bully in the school yard who runs screaming as soon as you lift a fist.

It's also been the wet dream of crazed neocons nationwide looking for an excuse.

I asked a question, and said nothing in this thread about what I would do, so how about instead of dreaming things up you think I would do, and insulting me, you just answer the question.

Well when we did not respond to things during the clinton admin., Bin Laden states he saw that as a sign of weakness and attacked. My fear would be that something like that might happen again

Rather like the way we consider any conversation with a third world country to start with the threat of total annihilation.
 
Oh dear, here we go again. The United States Party of childish Paranoia strikes again. Have you ever SEEN North korea? have you ever simply Google Earthed the country? Have you read ANYTHING at all about N Korea that is not written by Americans or trouble causers who know how dunb you are (same thing, I guess).

The GDP of N Korea is less than $2000 per cap. The country is worth $37 billion, that's less than the personal wealth of Larry Ellison and about the same as Montana! The fact that they are making rockets and bombs means that even more of their population of 24 million will go without food. Everything N Korea does serves one of two purposes. It persuades the international community to send food and essentials and goes some way to persuading N Koreans that they are leaders of the world.

If they became suicidal, why would they decide to bomb the US when they are still at war with S Korea and could probably deliver a bomb on an ordinary bus!

First, I am not an official diplomat, nor am I having a conversation with N. Korea at all. They've never paid any attention to me for some reason. Likely because I don't care to visit, mostly because I don't want to take the government handout of food from a starving N. Korean so they can pretend that they have enough to give to a fat American.

Secondly there is no threat involved, only a direct view of reality. We have enough nukes in the US to destroy the entire planet, they can't make one small enough to deliver on a missile, nor a missile capable of reaching Wash DC. This is simply posturing. If they indeed succeeded in nuking DC, how long do you think they'd continue to exist?

Not long at all, they probably wouldn't even survive the launch. However the possibility of nuclear launch is not a good reason to launch. Otherwise we should attempt to wipe out russia, china, india, pakistan(we seem to be trying there), israel, france, britain and others. I may get shot by my neighbor tomorrow, he does own a gun, doesn't mean i get to go out and shoot him first.

People who go looking for enemies tend to find them.
