Steubenville Thoughts

I don't know how I feel about that. I really have never agreed with charging juveniles as adults. This case is so heinous when you look at what actually was done, for how long, and how they viewed it since they were kind enough to live-text and also tape it, it's hard to be objective.

Certain premeditated actions dictate that a 'child' be tried as an adult. This case easily falls into that category. If not, then a bit of country justice needs to take place.

Indeed it is. There are other issues involved here too. Let's not forget that their was a proactive cover up of these events by both the local school and police department. Me thinks a few heads should roll there too! I'd say anyone from those institutions who had anything to do with covering this up should be sacked.

Did your father or anyone else talk to you about consent?

About consent directly, no. But, I have three sisters... he taught me early on what to look out for with guys with regards to my sisters. He also told me to treat women as I would want my sisters to be treated by other guys. My mother worked with abused women and children her entire career. So probably a bit different than most kids as I heard the stories early on. I know you like to think otherwise, but abuse of a woman or child is one of two things that will truly set me off. (messing with my family is the other)

I am not kidding in the least about shooting those cowards for what they did.

Without question they should be fired at least. Jailed if possible. Beaten if not (but make sure someone tapes it so the rest of us can laugh at their pain).

Interesting. I am just wondering because I am unsure how much education would really accomplish. Maybe it is more that you learn from the example set at home too. There are so many contributing factors I believe, it is hard to see them all.

Yeah I can't believe that coach still has his job for one example.

I think a simple "consent" talk probably doesn't do much. It's how the person is shaped in total - a lot to do w/ how their parents are, but there are probably so many other factors. It's an inherent sense of right & wrong.

I had a friend a ways back whose father actually taught him something pretty terrible w/ the opposite sex - which I won't repeat here - but who himself was extremely respectful toward women. Not that this says much, but it just seems like by the time parents start talking about sex w/ their kids, a lot of basic ideas are already formed.

I think the home plays an integral role in it. I also think it is far easier for a guy who has sisters to comprehend than for the guys that don't. I think as a society we have become far too lax. Social media brings these cases to our attention, but it is also a part of society that helps glorify high school athletes etc... as well. I saw an article on ESPN about Alabama offering a scholarship to an 8th grader. While I would guess that has happened before social media, now that kid gets his name and photo on ESPN and is already being glamorized. That is setting a mindset of entitlement at a very formative age.

The result cannot be as we saw in this case where the community tries to rally around the cowards, tries to protect them from prosecution. I don't advocate for a witch hunt by any means, but once that tape came out, the community should have been ready with the pitchforks. Those cowards should have been quietly taken aside and beaten to hell. Then put them on a very public trial. Plaster their face on the social media sites with the word coward on the photo. Humiliate them. Make an example out of them. If it stops even one other kid from doing something like that, it is worth it.

Interesting thoughts, thanks. I am interested in hearing what men think about these issues. You know, I mean normal men, which is why I banned a lot of men from this thread LOL

I don't think i've ever asked my brother about rape, though I did witness a big argument between he and my cousin, against a neighbor at a party my brother had. About that Steeler's player. My brother and cousin referred to him as rapebeurger or something like that. I mean, I am aware of their views, but this is the first time I have ever asked. I have just become very curious as to what normal men think on this stuff, I feel I am too subjected to sick fucks and their "thoughts" which I don't know if anyone has noticed, but sick fucks are very generous about spreading them around. The internet just soaks you in this stuff.

I saw the article about CNN discussing how the rapist's lives were ruined. I came here to post about it. Glad it was already up and being discussed.

CNN talked about how unfortunate it is that these young men (good grades and all) were now going to be labelled as "sex offenders" for the rest of their lives. Ain't that a fuckin shame?? Isn't this precisely why we have those lists??

They treated it like it was some boyish prank that resulted in them being labelled as "sex offenders". They didn't steal hubcaps or throw a baseball thru someone's window. They brutally violated an unconcious young woman.

No pity at all for these little bastards. They ought to be doing hard time.

If it had been my daughter, those boys would have PRAYED for prison time. And no, I would not have shot them down in the street. That is much too quick. They would have disappeared one day, and their mangled bodies would have been found months later with signs of medievil torture and depravities on them.

So now I am normal again? LMAO...

My initial reaction is actually closer to what Winter just typed out. I just didn't want to set you off with 'you so sadistic' etc... etc... ;)

I would actually like to hear 206 bones snap... one at a time. I promise I would post it to youtube too... cause it would be funny...

I have not seen the CNN article people are discussing, if you have a link, I would appreciate it as it needs to be sent to everyone to show a good example of what must not happen. We need to be relentlessness with pressure on CNN to do an hour long apology for that type of crap. Not to mention firing every single MF'er that had anything to do with reporting it like that.

Yeah I talked to a total like left wing, marxist leftist, who everyone here would hate (I love him though), and the first thing he said is he would kill them. He said he'd get a gun and kill them. I said the same thing to him STy said to me, uh you don't believe in guns. He said well I'd take advantage of the fact that most of the country disagrees with me! We laughed.

You bring up a great point about the sex offender comment, I read that too. I had the same reaction - uh, yeah, that's what the list is for, sex offenders. Don't want to be on the sex offender list? Don't rape anyone. I mean, it's real easy I have gone my whole life without ever once appearing on the National sex offender registry.

I think people view the NSOR and also groups like Megan's law, to be all about pedophiles. But nope, Megan's law tracts all sex offenders as well.

Lots of those 206 bones could be broken more than once. There are 10 fingernails and 10 toenails to be pulled out slooooooowwwly.
Then the impromptu dental work could be even more entertaining.
