America's Drones - The Justification for Terrorism and 9/11

You went to war in Iraq, what happened in Fallujah was infinitely worse than anything to do with drones. In WW2, enemy agents were sent behind enemy lines to execute specific Nazis like Reinhard Heydrich, the butcher of Prague for instance. The Wolf's Lair is another example in 1944, don't you think that drones or cruise missiles would have been used to kill Hitler had they been available?

I'm against the tactics used, not the tech.

Well, that is convenient for you then...for now anyway. Children do grow into 18 yo's rather fast.

hardly convenient, i have two grandsons that will grow to be old enough to be soldiers, however one has add and i do not know much about the other as he lives in san jose ca

i do have 4 granddaughters, the oldest wants to be a microbiologist and is in her junior year at uc merced and the others are too young to figure out what they want to do yet

as for me, i was rated 1y due to bad knees even though i took rotc in high school and am rated expert with handguns and rifles

as for my supposed straw man, i do not agree, as long as there are terrorists that want to harm us, there will be a war on terror - as soon as that stops, then hopefully we can avoid war

oh well

ps, my older brother was a lance corporal in the marines - please read the following

This applies to all military be they air force, army, coast guard, marines or navy and to those at home firefighters, police and paramedics.

One of my personal demons visited me last night.

I typed this with tears in my eyes for the loss of my brother. I should have used Gunny instead of sergeant but it was as if someone else was typing this

"Soldier stand your post," said the sergeant

I gathered my gear, helmet and rifle relieved the guard and stood my post until relieved

"Soldier stand your post," said the sergeant

I gathered my gear, helmet and rifle relieved the guard and stood my post until relieved

Day after day, night after night I took my turn and stood my post until relieved

I waited and watched until relieved

Day after day, night after night I took my turn and stood my post until relieved

A soldier's duty is to fight and sometimes to die

"Soldier stand your last post," said the sergeant

Now here I lie standing my last post.

Alone I may seem, but many are with me. They too stood their post and then their last post.

For my brother Lance Corporal Steven Hopwood USMC 10/1942 - 1/1967 - he stands his last post

My daughter is now in Afghanistan. She's been there two weeks now. This is her 4th tour in a combat zone. She leaves behind her one year-old daughter .. the one in my avatar.

As soldiers, their camaraderie and sense of duty is what holds them together. It's admirable, and should be honored.

But as citizens, not soldiers, it is our duty and responsibility to question the wars that put them in the battlefield. Today more of our solders kill themselves than on the battlefield.

As conscious people, it is our responsibility to think not just our our own precious children, but to also think of the children of others.

As much as I love my daughter, I love her no more than the parents love of the daughters and babies that we kill. My granddaughter is no more precious to me than the grandparents of the granddaughters that we kill.

There is a FAR more intelligent way to fight terrorism than to become the terrorist yourself.

My niece as joined your daughter, she left for Afghnistan and I am still trying to process it.

I thought she would somehow be spared.

I am keeping both these young women in my thoughts! I am hoping this does not change her. My sister has four out of five children who are in the military. Her oldest son has done two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. We were hoping her daughter, who graduated from West Point last year would be spared. My sister is having a hard time. My hearts goes out to both of you!

We should keep them all in our thoughts and prayers good sister.

The combat tour rotation is insane. Soldiers are home for a year .. then deployed again. It's insane and the cause of so much stress in the military. They have a hard time trying to maintain a family life and a sense of normality.

I've added you, your sister and her children to my thoughts, hopes, and concerns about this war.

I hate war and everything about it.

Thank you brother.

Send them the links to the Rand Corporation study. That's what I do.

Thank you so very much. I love being able to talk with her. It has been snowing where she is at.
