Inversely. If you increase the demand for goods, by increasing the living standards of the poor, supply has to keep up and more workers are needed for it to do so.

You do that through jobs, what we need is a growing economy. We do not, of a certainty, need an ideologue presenting a self-created crisis then demanding others present solely his solution as "compromise".

1) All things are not equal. 2) not always, if your customer is willing the increased price... Demand stays the same.

And what "self-created crisis" is this? An increase in the minimum wage is a means to an end. Simply another measure in the ever necessary war against poverty, class disparity and class stagnancy.

An increase in the minimum is barely a bandage trying to cover an arterial flow. We need people to have better than McDonald's jobs that were never intended to be a career. We can do better than that. That we are arguing minimum wage is a sign that we are worse off than we ever thought.

By no means am I arguing that we're well off. I just find that an increase in minimum wage is part of the solution, not the problem.

I think it is neither. Look, jobs that pay minimum are not the jobs intended to raise a family on, shoot even to pay rent on... or as a career. I'm not necessarily against it, I just don't believe that it is even part of a solution at all. None of the people who need jobs will even be able to get off food stamps with a minimum wage job, even with an increase.

These are the jobs your high school kid gets to pay for the insurance so they can drive their car, not the job you get to pay the mortgage.

That's not altogether true. Look at adults with disabilities or a low level of education who aren't able to earn more than a minimum wage. According to Department of Labor, about half of those earning the ~minimum wage are 25 years of age, or older.

Although workers under age 25 represented only about one-fifth of hourly-paid workers, they made up about half of those paid the Federal minimum wage or less

Here are some facts for you to misconstrue. Tell me why the minimum wage shouldn't go up with inflation?
 
It seems shouting ignorant is ILA's way of saying he disagrees with me, but doesn't know why. At least Damo can form a cohesive, if deceptive thought. ;)
 
Apple posted that under ford the economy took off after the raised wage. How bout you poor white trash clowns post some facts. Like a time it caused a recession?

Sadly its also the job the recovering addict takes while trying to get back on his feet, the job the pregnant teen takes while trying to get ready for her baby. Its the job the uneducated former drug dealer takes just after being released from prison. Its the job the girl who dropped out of highschool to marry the man of her dreams, who then beat her half to death before she got brave enough to leave him. Its the job the woman in the homeless shelter takes when she lost her secretarial job.

These jobs are VERY important and should not be discounted as simply the job your teen takes when they want to pay for car insurance.
