The idea of sacrificing for lent is counter to my understanding of God; I am instead going to commit to enjoying all the gifts given to me by God to the fullest extent possible.

Hmmm, one could easily mistake that comment coming from a greedy selfish one percenter.

And I don't know crap about religion but didn't God sacrafice his only son for our sins? If he was willing to sacrafice his son how do you say your understanding of God means we have to sacrafice nothing?

Good insight.

See? You do know at least some "crap" about religion. ;)

If you are a Christian, God sacraficed his only son.

If I gave up something so precishous as my only son, so my people could live, Id be pissed if they did not live to the fullest.

lol....I'd be pissed if they didn't follow my example.......lmao

How many people have given up their only son in useless wars?

god did not do anything so special.
Heck he had abraham (?) ready to do it.

Jesus died for your sins?
He was resurrected!
He was dead for less than three days.

Zombie Jesus had a bad weekend for your sins

You and I have a very different view of God, the one I know sacraficed so I dont have to suffer needlessly.

So you're really a left wing Bible Thumper, huh....A Christian Democrat that hates Catholics....
You're other lefty friends would call you a nutjob that believes in floating angels, some magical heaven in the sky, and a dude that came back from the dead....
Its a weird group you hang out with that if you didn't vote with them would ridicule you at every opportunity....

I lent a car to a relative. It broke down on them. they just left it beside the street to be flagged and towed to impound.

I just called the scrap metal outfit to go get it and scrap it.

Dumb bastards do not have a car now.

Really? So your religion says don't sacrifice...don't give back, just take, and live like every other fat, dumb westerner? Not exactly compelling there, Jarod. When I was a Christian I started giving away around 15% of my income to charity (and I haven't stopped). Unlike you libs, most conservatives put their money where their mouth is.

1. Did I say I care what anyone thinks?
2. Did I say I believe in heaven?

No I believe in giving back. I just don't believe giving up chocolate for 6 weeks benefits anyone.

Giving to your church is not charity.
It is keeping your church going and expanding for the most part.

I on the other hand give about 20-25% of my annual income to the local food bank and such.
