Multiple documents signed by Rubio’s parents, including their petitions for naturalization, show that Mario and Oriales Rubio arrived in the United States on May 27, 1956, with their son Mario, 6.
Maternal grandfather Pedro Victor Garcia also came to the United States around the same time but the stories were embellished.(Washington Post)
Rubio’s Parents Did not Apply for Immigration for 15 Years
Marco Rubio’s parents did not apply for naturalization until Sept. 9, 1975, 15 years after they lived in the United States, illegally and without immigration qualifications.
For 15 years the Rubio parents could not decide whether to live in Florida or Cuba and traveled back and forth even after Castro won victory in 1959.This establishes that they were not considered political refugees from Castro’s Cuba.
Passports show Rubio’s mother traveled to Cuba four times after Castro was in power, but they claim they were escaping Cuba for political reasons.
A naturalized American citizen, is defined as both parents to be naturally born in the United States or have naturalized lawful citizenship and Marco Rubio’s parents did not apply until 1975, Marco was born in 1971 before his parents were legal immigrants.
On Rubio’s updated senate government website he claims his parents came in 1956 and were never able to return which is not true;
“My faith in America’s promise was shaped early on by my parents who left Cuba in 1956 and, after Fidel Castro solidified his communist grip, were never able to return. ”
Marco was born in Miami in 1971 at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital to cuban exiles who first arrived in the United States in 1956 but never applied for citizenship or landed status until 1975. Rubio’s parents traveled back and forth from and to Cuba during these years, not really embracing US citizenship.
They were not exiled from Cuba, and Marco Rubio was not born to legal immigrants.
While Republicans claim that Marco Rubio is a natural-born citizen, and eligible for the Vice Presidency, or Presidency his constitutional status is in question. Perhaps this is why Mitt Romney is as he claims “thoroughly vetting” Marco Rubio that hinges on his landed status at birth, which appears to be illegal.
