Survivors of Catholic run workhouses in Ireland have rejected a government apology

It seems that our US compatriots are showing a complete lack of interest, should have added a few guns and a rape.
How is it anything to do with Americans?
1922, the Irish Socislist government enacted totalitarian actions against its people.
It was predicted by the British that this would happen.
And worse.
The clumsy stupidity of these people, their savagery made a lethal mix of power hunger and religious fanaticism.

Nothing to do with Americans, next you anti American types will try to blame the USA for this!!

As usual you are diametrically opposed to the truth. Ireland of old had far more in common with Fascist Spain, Italy and Portugal in that the Catholic hierarchy practically ran the whole country and countenanced little opposition. There was also a distinct American dimension as Eamonn De Valera was born in New York and due to his extreme views hated the British so much that he even signed the condolence book at the German Embassy in Dublin when Hitler died. Churchill even offered him Northern Ireland for the use of Cork and Bantry Bay but the ignorant prat wouldn't go for it.

LoIQ speaking in riddles again....

"Why don't pro-lifer groups picket gun shops instead of hospitals?

Has he heard of people being killed in gun shops lately or gun shop abortions or something ?

wtf is he talking about ?

I had to look up a little history about 'workhouses' in Ireland just to get some background....

There purpose seems to have been to help the poor, needy, homeless, and mentally handicapped cope with basic needs....

Didn't people request admittance to them, were fed, clothed, and got basic medial care in return for unskilled and manual labor.....

What other alternative was there to care for those that could not or would not care for themselves in the beginning of the century and weren't
they abolished in 1930.....?

It seems you're describing something more like a low security prison or something... a mental institution of a sort ?

I suggest that you read these before making any ill informed comments.

How am I opposed to the truth?
IT STILL HAS FUCK ALL TO DO WITH AMERICANS!
Jesus you fucking people, as soon as an American says something about it you will go on the attack and call them imperialists!!

I am about the only person who stills talks to you but I can't be bothered any more.

you insisted I was on ignore months ago!
However, despite you lacking the courage of your convictions, you challenged a point I made,
That this story has nothing to do with the USA.
Your response was some empty smarmy comment.
Still though, this has nothing to do with Americans.
You pig Irish need to sort out your own retarded issues, stop blaming your betters for your own lazy stupidity.

Well, the descriptions put forth form goggling "irish workhouses" paints a far different picture than your links....
These "Magdalen laundries" were more like a low security prison or mental asylums or for those that had some other legal problems....

How they got to be there and who committed them or sentenced them is still a little unclear....you're not talking about the 1800's here are you?

Hard to believe they were tolerated well into the 1990's....where the hell was your government or are they the guilty ones ?

Nothing to do with the UK blame the Catholics and nuns. I was subjected to the tyranny of a Catholic primary school run by Irish nuns and I know what they could be like.

It's because sanctimonious Christians on these boards don't want to bring up another shameful chapter in their past.
It's in pig Irish land.
Relevance to USA?
Nothing.
If the pig Irish didnt want a catholic totalitarian state, they should have stayed British!

lmao....Irish Catholics and American Christians having a common past is about as much as bac has a common past with the cannibals in Africa....or Obama
has a past in common with the Zulus....

The operative word, I think, is christian. Not Irish and not american.
But you knew that didnt you?
I know YOU have no history but that doesnt mean you cant read accounts of those who do.

Mmmmmm the Catholic Church detests American chridtians( puritans).
I believe the feeling is mutual.

This is not a religion issue, it is a statist power issue.
That the roman church was a wing of the Irish governments oppression has more to say about the state of Irish politics than any superstition.

Pig ignorant pig Irish!
That's the story here!

Riiiiiiiight...no relevance to the USA despite the fact that hundreds of thousands of Irish Catholics have emigrated here over the past 150 years.
