Has anyone mentioned that the bible says God told Joshua to kill every one day old baby in the land of canaan?

Tell me, oh weird one, what do you think about the exploits of Robin Hood? After all the existence of King Richard is well documented, Maid Marion was Robin's bit of stuff and the Sherif of Nottingham lived in Nottingham Castle. That's enough to prove the stories of Will Scarlet, Little John and the others, isn't it?

How about Aladdin? People used oil lamps hundredx of years ago, so that must be true too.

?????......no, he was told to kill everyone in a particular tribe, not in the land of Canaan.....and that was a tribe he was punishing because they engaged in human sacrifice......

Let me put it simply. The earth is 4.5 billion years old. It took millions of years for life to form. Dinosaurs, the most successful group of creatures ever to have lived, with the exception of bacteria etc, died out 65 million years ago. Now all that is evidential and complies with the laws of physics as we understand them, the laws of cosmology and biology. There is evidence of all that. Now you are saying your fantasy in the sky waited very nearly 4 billion years, watched all sorts of creatures evolve and die out, watched meteors crash into the earth and then and only then did he take some mud and model a figure then breath life into this figure then wait a while and flood the earth to punish the men he had made.
There is evidence (you might argue whether that constitutes proof and that's OK), but evidence there is. You have NO evidence that anything you say was part of a super being or deity. You have NO proof, you have NO evidence, you have NOTHING apart from a hotch potch collection of writings written by men in profound ignorance and gathered together by men in the ignorance of their time, which says that because these men said so the book they wrote was written by an imaginary figure.

Now you will refute what I have said and that's OK too. Then it falls to you to supply evidence to support your views with evidence. It does not fall to the rest of the world to disprove you for you are the one who cannot accept things as they are.

Don't know about "all things", but in this particular instance, yes, it's about personal choice.

In most cases, the person being sworn in choose the Bible, but Minnesota Rep Keith Ellison chose to be sworn in using the Quran

The point I make has nothing to do with YOUR president. It has to do with the legal meaning of the term. Why dont you look it up yourself.
Every time I meet someone like you I realise how fortunate I was not to have been born american.
