Cuomo Pushes for Reform of Marijuana Arrests

Cuomo is stating this will be a priority. This action will do alot to stop crime by not creating criminals.

wow....thats really a hell of a conclusion.....how about some other examples that would stop crime by not creating criminals in the same way.....

How about .....
stop arresting pedophiles....
stop arresting murderers.....
damn....no more arresting speeders or dui's.....
etc....

Holy shit...the list is endless....I think you guys have really hit on something here......how utterly progressive.....

Ah, I remember it, the one about equal pay...

Scarborough don't pay his sidekick.....MSNBC does.....why would Joe be the hypocrite ?....he isn't responsible for her paycheck......unless you can prove otherwise.

LTR.......learn to read.

Yes and that is the SAME thing that was done in CO. We made it legal. Hence, no criminal charges from the state to have it. But what I stated does apply to the situation there. The feds are still a problem.

and again, I applaud what he is doing. Sorry that I pointed out that decriminalizing it in NY is not going to change the fact they can still get busted by the feds.

Given Obama's track record the last two years, he seems to want to target those that are in the open.

No, it is not the same thing that was done in Colorado. You guys went further, which is great.

This is a decriminalization effort for simple possession. The feds are not busting those simply in possession. They won't either as they don't have the resources. State laws and the stop and frisk policies forever mark their targets with a criminal record, and Cuomo is acting to stop that. Republicans have stood in the way in NY.

Cuomo is probably one of the most high profile politicians to take up the cause and he has said it will be a priority of his administration. For him to make it a focal point is encouraging and shows that the politics on this are changing quickly. The Obama administration has been disappointing, but they won't stop the move towards legalization.

lmao.....reading between the lines is what causes you to mis-interpret, mis-state and mis-understand what the actual lines say.....you see what you want and not is meant...........

Who gives a shit? The election is over. Obama is President for 4 more years. Whether he gets out in front of this or not does not matter, really. So far neither he nor anyone in his administration seems to be taking a strong stance against this, as Romney promised he would. I doubt Obama is going to be the one to spike the football on this, but again, who gives a shit? Prohibition is on the way out and that is a good thing.

I'd hardly equate marijuana users with killers and pedophiles.

Once again toppy... Obama has been WORSE than Bush thus far. It is not a right vs. left issue. It is a Fed vs. State issue.

If it is not a left right issue then why does every one of these threads draw the same response concerning Obama? You guys try to make it partisan which is kind of stupid since almost none of your politicians are taking a stand on this issue.

I understand your point, and it's valid, but please remember that Obama's second term has a major bearing on the result of the 2016 election.

As usual, you make it clear that you are ignorant and severely lacking in moral judgment.

Pedophiles and murderers are criminals because they commit crimes against other people. Marijuana users are "criminals" because they violate some stupid statute.

By arresting people for marijuana possession you are marking them in a way that limits their opportunities. You also expose them to hardened criminals. With fewer opportunities many of them will then turn to other criminal activity. The numbers from California are proving this true.

BTW, speeding is not usually a crime.

Yes, and that is the way he is open to the changing politics on this issue. Obama's broken promises and/or weasel words are not going to stop the press for legalization. Republicans are not going to gain political capital by simply pointing it out. If they want to make this partisan then they need to do more than just say "the Democrats suck too."

I'd hardly equate marijuana users with killers and pedophiles.

Nor do I....but the principle and logic is the same.....change the law, but until then it IS the law....
we can't pick and choose which laws we will obey which we won't .....

I agree

I take it to the absurd to make a point......

Changing the law is one thing, the right thing.....ignoring the law while it is the law, isn't the lesson you want to teach anyone....

Which is exactly what the police in NY are doing. They are ignoring the laws that sought to decriminalize possession. Cuomo is pushing back.

Again, you guys suggest you will shoot agents of the state enforcing any new laws that limit how many bullets you can have in one magazine or what sort of gun you can possess. But you are going to lecture some guy smoking a joint about his duty to obey an unjust law? Who are you kidding?

The only point you are making is what an absurd fool you are.

Yes, we can!

And changing the law is what this is about. The laws are being changed.

You don't possess any capacity for logic or moral judgment.

Sweet another democrat against retarded weed arrests!
Sure wish some conservatards wanted to serious curtain gov wistful spending!
Weed is good, but cult members are happy to see smokers fined $800 or more for using a smoke free cigarette outside!
